Technical Newbie with immobiliser problems

Any help on this have seen a couple of threads with the same issue, I've a 1.9 grande sport diesel, had the car with a padlock warning light come on today followed one of the responses on a previous thread ref disconnecting battery etc, have done that and managed to restart the car, whoop woop. Only to have another issue of the car still running when I remove the key ? Any one with info would be fabulous thanks Zoe
