newbie with a unidentified pin problem...Help!!!

Hi i am a newbie here. Joined last nite. I have a Hymer camper 1987 on a fiat Ducato chassis its gearbox is a citroen/peugeot. Unfortunately we had problems with the gearbox and at the moment its been put back together again. I have a part that we cannot identify maybe some one that knows these gearboxs might know it. I am hoping to upload a pic of it when i figure out how to do it.....much thanks....

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

It looks like a detent pin from the internal selector rods. They are designed to prevent you selecting more than one gear at a time and fit through the selector rods. Items 10 and 11 in this diagram.

The diagram is of a 1990 to 1994 gearbox. I'm not sure whether it's the same box as in your 1987 van but the principle and where they fit will be similar.
