well i am new to around here, i have just got myself a Mk2 Uno Turbo (cheap in need to work).
got the car as a cheap toy to play about with, used to have one when i have 18 (Mk1 Uno).plan on tidying it up and making it abit faster (would like 160-170bhp)
i have a few cars in my collection which the uno will take a nice spot within them. I own :-
Corsa 3lt V6 6speed with NOS
Twin Engine Corsa with 2 x 2lt turbo engines
Fiat Cinquicento 900cc (everyday car)
Mk2 Uno Turbo

heres a few pics of my cars :-

Advice Bit :p
I am after some advice on what power you can get from a standard engine? max PSI before fuel cut?
Where can i get chips for the ECU? an which to go for?
Do the Hybrid turbos of Punto 1.4 turbos fit?
Is it the same engine as a Punto turbo?

First off, hello and welcome mate.

I'm loving the quality of the work on your corsa, i'm nota massive fan off them but that looks to me as good as they get. How quick is it up the 1/4?

Regarding the chipping, you cant buy chips for either the mk1 or mk2 uno's instead run an fse if needs be.

One in good nick with no issues will run 1.2bar with an fse, zorst and filter and be pretty reliable if its looked after and max power is used for short (ish) bursts.

The engine in the punto has some changes to that found in the mk1 but basically its the same block. The turbo/manifold flange is the same and that of the T2 so you can use both.

Tom

Hi mate
well the Corsa's
3lt V6 not ran up the 1/4 BUT when she had the 2.5 V6 in without NOS she ran a 13.9 in the wet.
as for the white one, its not finished yet, all going well will be done next summer running 500bhp per engine (1000bhp and about 800bhp per ton) and hoping to get into the 10's with that.

so its a matter of fitting a FSE turn boost up and trying to match the fuel?
OR would you get it on a RR?

Hey mate, welcome to FF

What a collection! (y)

I know of some mad corsas mate but they take the ****! lol
Your V6 one looks the ********! :D

I've been to SBD (Im assuming you've heard on them?) a few times as my mates mum is the receptionist there and the 2.0XE engines are brilliant!
Even better in LET form (y)

As tom said for your uno, they are quick @ 1.0 BAR

Where abouts are you in the country?

1bar and you dont need to worry about rolling it.

1.2 bar and i would give it some thought, really depends how long you boost that for and as to what condition its in. The T2 on the mk2 isnt a strong unit and prolong use at 1.2 bar will wear it out quite quickly. The motor is strong but good fuel supply and sensible water temps are a must.

Tom

welcome to the site matey. firstly, i saw that car on ebay and its the same colour as mine (mare blue), 2ndly seen ur black corsa at shows and 3rdly ive seen ur rebuild thread on passionford as im always on there looking thru the threads (and secretly a ford cossie lover!). must say, all ur projects are looking awesome!

Dunc

Ok so i set the Boost to 1bar how to i set the fuel? or what pressure on the fuel rail? of will the ammount of fuel be ok already?

glad everyone like my Corsa :D
i am a Vauxhall mate but as i said the Uno Turbo was the first fast car i had it i loved it :D

i am going to see how much rust there is on the shell (the lad says its not to bad) not even seen it  an if its shoot will put the engine into my Cinqucento :D

The standard fueling is good for 1.0 bar of boost (There was a rumor that Fiat intended to run MK2s at 1.0 of boost as standard but for some reason they dropped them, it could be down to the GARRETT turbo unit reliabilty issues!)

The weird thing is that my old MK2 (the one on the right in my sig below, 2003), i could run the turbo at a dashboard boost gauge indicated 2.1 BAR of boost!!!

The needle span around twice! lol
It just took it and took it and took it!
i drove around my area for 1.5hrs like it!! lol

Thats was in late 2003 tho and that engine is now in another uno of the same shape and i just completed the conversion last week........ i gave it fuel and a good battery..... it fired up with no known faults (was only for 5-secs mind)

i am confused tho..........you have one mad V6 Corsa on the go-gas........an even faster one in the works........n a little cinqy (aaawwww, lol)...........why buy a UT?
My old UT was my 1st car too! so i kinda see why

So are you very much involved with the Twin engine corsa project?
is it a home built project?

And Dunc.......who doesnt love cossie? :D
i think you arent a petrol head if you dont like the cosworth engine (y)

cheers for the advice :D
looking forward to playing with the Uno.
as for why a UT, everyone has said that as i am really excitied to get the Uno
Think also with all my cars i have owned they may be quicker than a UT BUT i have always had to keep a eye on everything and think about the engine (watch temp, oil pressure etc), where when i was 18 an i had my Mk1 i dident care about it and could just abuse the thing all night, an would start up for work next morning without missing a beat. i enjoyed the non care quick car :D

as for the other cars i have done everything myself (paint, bodywork, metal fabrication etc) i dont like letting other people work on my car i would rather have a go myself and now after spending 4 years at night school i can do prity much anything :D

Brillaint mate

i too have a mad project car to build, a space-framed 5-cylinder 4x4 Panda :D
(Inshort, Group-B spec  )

Only after my uno is done (y)

Engineering night school??

And as for the "Thrash and forget" thing, i did it too and mine just ran so sweet, i think most people who hate have either had a bad one and its been a pile-o-crap because someone else didnt do a proper job on it before or they have never had one at all!

the corsa infront of the UT is the lad who owns i got the UT off :D

as for braking it, i havent seen the UT yet, just just paied a deposit on the pics, so if i get there and the floors falling out, theres rot everythere i will brake it.
IF i can repair it i will :D

as for "Engineering night school" nah i did
Level 1 2 3 in welding (Mig, Tig Stainless Tig Aluminum etc)
Level 1 2 in metal fabrication
Level 1 2 in Panel beating
Level 1 2 in Paint refinishing

:D

The paint refinishing course takes 2 years 1 night a week :D

Nice list mate, i have done:

1 Year - P.E.O (Performing Engineering Operations)
1 year - BTEC 1st diploma in manufacturing engineeing
2 years - BTEC National Diploma in Motorsport Engineering

Built a MK6 Escort with a Sierra 2.9i V6 engine in it :D
Using the entire Sierra floor pan (Slighty pikeyish but we had to show every doubter it can be done if you put your mind to it!)
If you was to stand under the car with the output shaft of the gearbox behind your head and you were looking at the rear diff, car is 1/2 an inch off to the drivers side, lol.......not bad for a 1st try!

It was such a good learning experiance so i can see the point of the TE-LET-Corsa and it looks fantastic, lovely work mate

Just hope that Uno is in good shape
