Hi I have had a few fiats in the past and have had issues with them that has kept me away from them. Anyway that's by the by.

I just picked up a V reg Punto S Team for pennies as a run around and noticed that when I turn the knob to run the rear wiper I get nothing, no motor sound or movement of blade so i'm thinking the motor is duff. Are they easy to replace on this model and are there tips to try to ensure its the motor that's dud

Front wiper runs no issue.

Cheers Bill

Not found the fuse box on it yet thought it was in a compartment inside the glove box mind you I only got the car yesterday and have parked it up until I can give it a good check over. Wheres the fuse box on this model?

Cheers Bill

Rear wiper was one of the items that failed on my Mk1. It started to get slower until one day no movement. This was one failure never bothered to fix. I removed the wiper altogether so I have an unobstructed rear window.

By your right kneecap -- assuming RHD. There are a few fuses in the engine bay as well.

cheers fingers99 I'll check it today and if the motor is dud I'm scrapping my Polo tomorrow so will see if the scrappy have one

Ok I've checked under the dash on both right and left side of the car and also looked in the engine bay and have been unable to locate the fuse box I know there has to be one but for the life of me I cannot see it.

Any thoughts? It's a 1999 Fiat Punto 5 door 60S Team.

Ok I've downloaded a Haynes Manual and discovered where the fuses are.

This may help: According to the Heynes manual the front and rear wipers share the same fuse. So if the front wipers work then the fuse is not the cause of the rear wiper not working.

Was wondering that myself I am scraping my VW Polo tomorrow so I will check if they have a wiper motor fingers crossed they may chuck it in free with the scrap price of the Polo

Cheers Bill

Looks like I have 2 fully functioning versions of the Punto Mk2 DTE -- one in Italian, the other in Czech! :bang:

Will keep looking!

LOL Ok I scraped my Polo today only got £70 for it:( but also got a rear wiper motor thrown in to.

Put it on earlier and works fine only issue now is no wate coming from jets the pump is working so am thinking the tube has become detached or its an old type pump that doesn't have a split off for the rear jets. will get to that at a latter date.

Cheers Bill

As you say, this is not a biggy but when you look at it next, there is non-return valves in the lines, these sometimes fail preventing water getting past, not sure the one for the rear sprayer is mind, should be near the actual jet though rather than at front i would have thought.. If you can find that try pulling pipe off that on pump side on the connection and try again, if it pumps water out the valve will be broken. Either get one off a car in scrappies or just replace with a normal connector (they seem to lose some pressure without the valve but they work).

Cheers Blu73.

As I said in a previous post I've had two Fiats both where Uno's and I was not impressed with them due to mechanical issues and things breaking such as a wishbone snapping on both of them one snapped on the motorway. Also had a clutch go and disintegrate the gearbox too. I always said I would never get another one but as I needed a cheap run around at short notice and this was cheap I thought hey beggars can't be choosers.

As I have my grand kids in the car a lot the earlier experiences are making me over piccy on safety and drive-ability.

you may have just been unlucky, i have found fiats to be really reliable over the last decade or so of owning them, but then again perhaps i've just been lucky lol. I will concede these older model are not the safest in a crash but at least its been rare for them to leave me stranded on the side of the road.. Not something i can say about my dad or uncles in there merc's, they are always going wrong and everything seems connected to everything else aand when the car decides there is something up it just refuses to go at all.

I hope so buddy shame I aint a mechanic or engineer I'd have some real fun modding this one as a way of sticking two fingers up to the ones that put me off them in the first place :D:D:D:D

Hi there non return valve is at the front for rear washer next to the washer bottle if it helps

If you take inner arch out on passenger front you will see bottom of washer bottle with pump attached and a little along the pipe is the non return valve. I just took mine out and put a joiner in all it does is stop the delay of water reaching the back of the car
