Hi all,

Just picked up a Bravo. Gotta admit it was spur of the moment thing. Lady at work selling it, wanted a car, price was right, ran great, liked the style of it.

I need some bits for it. Just wondering if anyone in the Leeds area has a boot lid (in the dark green would be great, complete with wiper arm even better) and a tail light assembly driver's side that they want to let go very reasonably priced. This was not a planned buy so I'm going to be down on cash for a few months, lol.

Add in that the thing has a stereo with a mind of its own that randomly jumps station and then just starts auto-searching and won't stop for love or money, and its been a great first week with my wheels :) Fortunately I'm a previous 2nd gen RX-7 owner, so answering 'working on the car' to 'what are you doing this weekend' already comes naturally :D

Anyone that can help me out, let me know.

Only working on it the weekend? Whats happened to the other 5 days a week the rest of us lose? :)

Cant help you with parts but welcome aboard.

Out of interest, which model have you gotten your dirty mits on?

Its a 2000 X reg 1.6 SX. That makes it a 100sx I think? Got about 80k on the clock.

Full time job+live in a terraced in the middle of a very jamb packed neighbourhood+park on the street+winter=not working on the car that much. Oh, and the full time job and short daylight doesn't hurt either :D

I was actually working in a garage back home (moved here from Canada about 9 months ago) so I had my own nice clean heated lift and bay to do these things in back then. Not to mention about 5 grand worth of tools. Now that I have my own baby I'll have to start picking up the tools I need again bit by bit since the fancy set is still home in my mom's barn.

Regarding the radio it sounds like the ariel is loose or corroded at the roof. I think it can be accessed by removing the roof light inside the car. You may need to check connections/earths but tbh the radio isn't the Mae West and will easily lose its station.

Naw, its not the antena but thanks anyway. The CD function is fubar too, jumps tracks, fast forwards when you're not even looking at it etc, and the buttons do totally different things than they're supposed to when pushed. And it doesn't even recognize pushing the expert button for any number of seconds. Its broken. If I can't pick up another factory one cheap I'll deal with it until I can get a fascia and an aftermarket one. Actually more concerned about getting it looking better from behind and the cracked up tail and dented boot lid are deff bothering me more :)

As someone who extended a main ignition harness by 3 feet to swap a RHD harness into a LHD car, I can say electrics are not my favourite thing, but at least I can handle them. Or could when my soldering kit wasn't 3000 miles away.

I take it no one in the general area of Leeds has these two parts they want to part with then?

Whats wrong with the bootlid you have?

welcome mate,

have you tried any local scrap yards for the parts? should only cost about 50 quid to sort and if you drop lucky you will get the same colour boot lid!

regarding the stero i would just chuck an aftermarket one in, do you have a multichanger with the standard radio? if so you could prob sell it and pay some towards your new one!

Anyone recommend a good breaker in the Leeds area?

I do have a factory multichanger. I've gotten a factory replacement radio off ebay I'm going to try.

I know they're poison. And you're talking to someone who generally had more stereo equipment than my car was worth back home (3 grand or so in a 500 dollar car). But here I live in a semi rough area and I'd rather keep it looking factory for now and not get it smashed/broken into. My fiance and I are looking to get a house in a different neighbourhood closer to his work, and then I'll start really doing my car up.

For now on the bootlid and tail light I'll change my question. Anyone got a recomendation of a good breaker in the Leeds area? I'm new here, my fiance is totally car clueless so he's not going to know, and I don't know who's not going to try and take me for a ride due to being a female with a strange accent.

As to exactly what happened to the car, the previous owner told me someone backed into her in a carpark and just drove off so the outer clear layer is gone off the driver's side lense and the bootlid is buckled so it's hard to close and leaves an obvious gap around the tail lamp on the drivers side. It's also taken the wiper arm off, but I think those are easy to find at the various all makes car parts places so I'll slap a new one on sometime soon. (After pay day!)

have a look on yell.com for local breakers. im sure someone on here will have what you need though, just takes a little time sometimes!

Hi and welcome.

Tail light is easy, either a local breakers or ebay will have it sorted nice and easy, or someone local may be able to help (were dotted everywhere)

Boot lid in what i think will be reflex green will be harder to come by naturally as you are looking for a specific colour, for the mean time you may just be better off buying a boot lid and then look into getting it painted for the warmth and security bonuses you will get.

Ebay is another bet, or you can try online breakers like 24/7 spares...

There's a breakers right down from my house. I'll try them first and if they don't have anything maybe they can recommend another one to try.

Is that the 'forest' green colour? Reflex Green?

I think the forrest green is reflex green, but i have been known to be wrong many times before :(

See here for colurs: -

Ooooooh thanks. That middle one is in York which is very doable for collection. Long as a boot lid will fit in my boot :D

D'oh, the boot lid is sold already. Back to getting one from a local yard and probably getting it sprayed to match. Oh well, it can be a skittles car for awhile.
