Newbie on attempted theft

Hullo all.

I joined the Forum last week to find out some info relating to my brand, spanking new Panda... And I'm back again today to say some little monkey has bent the door off my pride and joy and had a go at the steering column (gouged a chunk out trying to hot wire it, I guess). I've had the car less than three weeks, and it is already battle scarred.

Anyone else had a problem with attempted theft of Pandas? Are they a target, or am I just the victim of some bored youths?

Thanks - I came in search of solace!

I called the police to report it, but they didn't seem bothered at all, and they certainly had no intention of coming out - they said they'd phone back in 72 hours to give me my crime reference number. My Dad's bent the door back in, so at least it's water tight, but it's out of shape and the paintwork is damaged and the window doesn't go up and down properly anymore. I'm just gutted. I've been driving a battered old second-hand Cinquecento for nearly ten years, and saved so hard for this little baby. If I catch anyone near it I will string them up.

I'm going to ring the council later to apply for a dropped kerb and turn my front garden into a parking space - I'm not leaving it on the road to be a target again.

uhh! i hate bent doors! some little prick did it to mine with the last owner (dad's mate)
cracked all the paint and made it out of line, luckily ive repairded it, also went for the old screwdriver in the lock! the old uno held up against them though, no one will mess with it when its Clifford Protected

Clearly some jealously-ridden 'little monkey' taking it out on your Panda. Hope you get it sorted soon with minimum of fuss and that it's soon just a distant memory...
