Newbie needing some help

Not used to forums but hope this one will help. Got code P1772 on 2009 Fiat Punto Dynamic 1.4. Had new battery and code cleared but still a big problem. Flashing lights, ringing bells and messages that tell me Manual Transmission and Manual Method are not available. Code seems to baffle the garages. Any ideas or similar experiences?? Thanks.

so you've got a semi-auto and it drives fine in AUTO , but will not let you select "manual"= is that correct..??,

yes its a semi auto ..only get (check transmission) when driving in auto mode occasionally (but car drives fine with no judder or anything) car drives fine in manual mode too ..not sure whats going on ????
