i recently installed a cd player and while doing so i happened to pull a wire out from behind the holding unit, its nothing to do with the cd player and i only found this out when i put everything away and tried to lock the door. thought it was to do with central locking, its a white box connector and i cant find where this goes.

the car was starting and lights working, but the internal lights, cd player and central locking weren't. i tried to find where the wire came from but cant find it, and now the car battery is dead.

does anyone know what this could be?

i have someone coming to look to fix it but they wont know until they see it and are not able to come out till next week.

Try taking off the trim panel below the radio, it's easy enough to get off and gives a lot more access to the wires under the radio.
I'd also try disconnecting the CD player from the power, as the problem only occurred after this was installed, just in case the connector is a spoof.

i did have the cd player working,i had tried it before trying to insert it. i have also had that part off and a lot of other pieces off and can see where the wire is coming from, it comes in past the speedometer, but i also found another wire that is not conected. the second wire is different from any that i have seen in the car, its thick black wire with a screw in conecter. it makes me think of an aerial type wire only thicker.

My immediate guess is that the big black wire could be an earth? This could be why a number of seemingly unconnected items are not working. Just a guess, of course, but black wires are either normally earth, or as you say, aerial.

Unless you've found the black wire that can connect to the optional CD player that went under the front seat?

Actually, this post is starting not to help at all......

ok the guy came out and jump started the car its now running, but the central locking is not working and he had no idea what the wires were for. he said that the black one was possibly a hands free kit that was added to the car.

i have tried putting the cd player in and its not working, so i tried the old cassette player that came out and it works. think there is either something wrong with the cd player or the wires that were with it to connect it up.

any ideas????

i think that you have ,a black wire ,red, and a yellow, the red and yellow come thogether and the black is earth ,maybe you did something wrong
