Newbie - eco:drive do I need to keep USB plugged in?

Hi all

Brand new here and just picked up my pre owned 10 plate Evo active with eco:drive. Really happy with it and have the latest firmware installed.

But the question I have is this.

Does my car only store the eco:drive data whilst the USB drive is plugged in?

Or can I plug it in once a week and it will grab all the data since the USB was last plugged in

Hope that makes sense.
