I fitting new alloys and being not genuine wheels the locating pins and opposite 12mm nut on the drums and discs are in the way, is it ok to take these off ? Thanks :confused:
 
what alloys are they, what size are they and what car were they from as they might not fit altogether
 
no they fit if I take out the pins and nuts that's the point
is it ok to take them out ! :confused:

what do you mean by be aware that the disc/drum can move out of alignment when you have the wheel off ??? :confused:

well what do you think that bolt does?
it keep the drum/disc in position when theres no wheel bolts in place

so if the retaining bolt isnt in place and no wheel bolts
the disc can turn

it's when I bought these wheels I was told that the pins might have to come out to fit the new wheels but its both the pins and bolts,
so it's ok so that's the main thing THANKS !!! (y)
 
easiest way to fix that is to fit wheel studs :)

but if your only removing wheels to replace brake components or tyres then dont worry. its not that hard.

fiat actually supplied a took with cinqs to align the wheel to disc.

all you need to do is put a rod/stick of some kind... through the disc into the hub then put the wheel over the rod/stick to keep everything aligned while you fit the first bolt.

but to be fair when i had wheel bolts i never had an issue.
 
surely that is pointless as you have studs so the disc/hub wont need aligning and the disc will never fall off while the wheel it removed because the caliper holds it in :)

If when removing the wheel the disc moves, Any dirt/rust could drop behind and stop the disc sitting flat on the hub. They are also holding the spacers on.
