i have just found out that the pully on the front of my air con pump is the reason that my alternator belt keeps snapping and will require the replacement of the pump.

does anyone know how difficult this is

or is it possible to fit a shorter alternator belt to bypass the air con pump

the diesel pumps are not bad to change, if you go down the shorter belt (non aircon) you may find that the a/c pump needs to come off to allow the shorter belt to work as the a/c pulley will be in the way even though it is not being used.

just to finish this problem....i have fitted a 1070 mm belt with the top black plastic pully removed and everything is good. no air con but 976 euros cheeper than the garage quoted. now its just the brakes and rattle problem to sort
