Hey there,

I'm new to the forum also new to owning a fiat, Saying that I'm new at driving.. I only passed my test about 3 weeks ago now.

So I came here for some advice really, On the last mot of my car it had an advisory for "general under body corrosion"

So If I cleaned it all up and applied hammerite would this help in anyway?

and can hammerite be applied to a back axle?

Thanks

Jim.

about rust, if you got holes, hammerite wont help, look under car and check how bad it is

nah its only surface rust mate so if i cleaned it up ans used hammerite, do you think it will be okay?

I'll upload a pic over the weekend as I'll be changing the head gasket and cam belt/water pump anyway,

Thanks for your reply!

there is no point in changing head gasket if car is presumably full of holes and will fail next mot cuz of it...

I did not say it was full of holes? I said it was "General under body corrosion" witch most cars at 15 years old would have? lol

Even if it has a few holes it's an easy fix clean it up chop out the affected aria and weld in a plate.

I've had a look and it is just a little bit of surface rust that is all.

generally ANY holes would result in an MOT failure, ;)
what tends to happen is = the factory underseal cracks with age.. and then damp gets trapped underneath it, and rust gets a hold..,
getting under car with a wire brush will soon have the worst off, let it dry in use for a month or so.. then wire brush again, and paint, then FRESH underseal to protect it all for years to come..,(y)
