07 plate you say? Has it been done before do you know? It sounds like you're running on borrowed time. 7 years of steady use is a long time for a rubber belt.

+1, Timing belt deffo overdue. Make sure you replace the tensioner/pulleys at the same time. And please use a garage that has the proper cam locking tools - there have been a lot of people on here who've had problems after a belt change because numpty fitters have messed up the timing. Don't think I'd bother with the water pump though.

And welcome to the forum BTW. You'll find lots of useful stuff here. Have a look in the Guides section for starters...

Did you not get the handbook with the car? It'll have a service schedule in there but I agree with above, if history is not known then 7 years is a long time for a belt to survive. It's usually a case of 70k, or 7 years whichever comes first. So even if the car's only done 10k at 7 years old, the belt would still need renewed.

I had mine done at 76000 miles so slightly over what fiat suggest, agree with everyone else with regards to having it done however personally I would get the waterpump done at the same time like myself. Its that bit more expensive but makes sense to change at the same time and as my mechanic showed me mine had began to leak.

Thanks. I'm gunna get it booked in tomorrow. With the luck I get it will go sooner than later. I will learn how to reply personally soon. Thanks again.

Replace the water pump, belt, timing, pulleys, oil and oil filter and check the brakes and discs...go as prescribed in the service book it costs around 500-700 € and is worth it.

Welcome, for the 1.4 its been revised to 36k miles or 36 months by the belt manufactures (lots on here about premature failures on Stilo's etc), Fiat revised it slightly, but not to this low.

Personally I go by 50k or 3 years on our 1.4 16v superFIRE engines in the household which seems to be ok.
