I don't think i've ever liked a small Jap car before but I seen a new Swift the other day covered in POS and with all the options on it. Looked really smart. I've just had a look on the website and the performance figures from it 2 engines and accessories range is very respectable. The pictures on the website don't do it as much justice as seeing one in the flesh. Comes in yellow too:cool: What do you think of it?

Expensive for what it is...

They are reasonably quick, and well equipped, but that doesn't mean the interior is bargain basement, they reviewed one in Auto Express this week, the top of the range one, and it costs nearly as much as I paid for my Stilo, which itself is near top of the range (JTD Dynamic) and is two size catagories up

Just read this on Parkers too...
"The 70bhp 1.3 DDiS - available from September 2005 - is Suzuki's first small diesel and has been developed in conjunction with Fiat."
Is this a Multijet???

I beg to differ. Base model 1.3 GS starts from 7,799 according to adverts. Thats cheaper than a fiesta base model according to ford website and the ford doesnt come with a cd player. The top model 1.5 only costs 9,824, i didnt know you could get brand new stilo diesel top of the range models for under 10 grand.

I agree with smurfhead, i am impressed with it too. The interior looks very similar to the new Mitsubishi colt, which is another car ive bn impressed with.

Its about time Mitsubishi and suzuki had a kick up the arse and started producing summat modern and reliable, instead of the '4x4' we always see, and i dont rate those much cos the vitara is the worse car i have ever driven.

Applesei, I got my Stilo off Jamjar, list price £13200 (when I got mine), I paid £9600, discounts like this are easy to find on the Stilo, and other similar sized cars.

A local dealer is doing the 1.4 active for around £8k, that or a swift hmm :D

That is exactly my plan Matt. I rekon they will depreiate like a falling piano, which is good news to me in my situation. The Parkers review is pretty good.

You can't really compare the Stilo and Swift. They are aimed at totally different markets and not rivals and my personal taste picks the Swift. I think Suzuki have a good car here and congrats to them.

Oh, the Sei would stay aswell. lol

Insurers don't treat the group system as a solid decider on premiums. A lot of big insurers don't evenrefer to them when generating their quotes and use their own statistical equivalent, so insurance group is only a guide and really shouldn't be a pivotal issue on car choice. There are so many other factors which decide premiums too such as age, experiance, Pass Plus, AIM, ADI, points, claims, NCB etc.

first cars are always stupid prices to insure. fiats i think are the cheapest to insure for young drivers. i was quoted a £800 more for a 1.1 Fiesta than my old Cinq Sporting. the same situation with the Sei too. I wouldn't get a Fi. I was just interested. so whatever else we look for is going to be hard to live up to on insurance.
