Just bought a 95 cinquecento Sporting.Seems to be a bit heavy on the petrol. Any way of telling if tank replaced on the recall?.Has the usual handbrake problem and clutch needs adjusting as problems getting gears.
Also is it a big job to replace rear wheel bearings ?
Can it be krypton tuned or is it better to take it to a garage that can look at the ECU.

rear bearings are an easy job, £28 per side iirc and not long to fit.

check the fuel tank for leaking, or if there is gunky drippy black stuff formed on the bottom (the tanks coating disolved)

high fuel comp could be down to a sensor fault, MAP or lambda are common culprits. Might be worth taking to a garage and getting the ECU checked for fault codes, and also get the sensors checked

welcome to the forum!

Erm..whats Krypton tuning? never heard of it...

Fiat should tell yu whether yure fuel tank has been done (my local flatly refused to though), however the recall has closed, so theyre not under an obligation to change it if it hasnt been done.

Clutch adjustment is a 5 min job (Well 10 if yu include opening the bonnet!!) :D

The ECU adjusts the ignition timing itself. You can check it with a stobe, the arpature is on the gearbag iirc, but you can't adjust it. If the ignition timing out then its a sesnor/ecu problem - TDC/Crank sensor.

(i'm assuming thats what your refering to re krypton tuning?)

Yes. I'm used to having cars without ECU's where you could manually adjust the settings yourself or take it in for a Krypton tune. Are these sensors expensive to replace ?

Krypton is more for old school cars as the many probes can simulate faults to pinpoint and also detect true faults.

Used on briefly, clever but at 18K pretty expensive.

Went to my local Fiat dealer yesterday, They wanted £56.00 +VAT to run the diagnostic checks. Now looking for someone much cheaper.
Adjusted the clutch and what a difference to be able to get gears.

Hehehe..I had that problem with mine the day I bought it...Had to slam it proper hard into first and couldnt get reverse without grinding really really badly...Idled a good 2-300rpm lower and rough too.

Got it home and played with the clutch cable and all was good! :D ;)

Looks like my one has missed its recall then. i got the gunky drippy black stuff on the bottom. how much is this gonna cost?, is it an MOT failure? and is it worth replacing/ repairing if it isn't leaking badly?
