Any Prince fans out there better go and reserve a copy of tomorrows Mail on Sunday NOW. I expect it will sell out VERY quickly. I just reserved mine from the local News Agent (y) (y) (y)

Edit: The Mail on Sunday is horrible far right wing newspaper. I shall buy it, remove the Prince Album from it then throw the newspaper away :p

Edit 2: The album will NOT be for sale in any shops or online stores (no doubt a few will crop up on Fleabay ). It is ONLY available with the Mail Newspaper on Sunday or given away to anyone buying tickets for Prince's UK gigs.

i dont know whats funnier, prince needing to use a newspaper to get his album into people's hands, or the fact that these sales will not count towards chart sales. thats 2.9M CD's that wont get him into the charts. lol

Went out for my cycle ride and picked up my reserved copy. I needn't have bothered reserving it, there's still loads in the shop  However, the newsagent told me that they ordered in 100's, and that most people were buying their normal paper AND the Mail to get the Prince album!

Custard, Prince doesn't NEED to sell anything or get chart placings! I don't know if it's still the case, but he chose to not even have a record contract at one point so that he could be in complete control of his work. All that matters to him is to get the music out to the people plus he'll still be raking it in, chart placings or not. And who even takes any interest in the charts these days?!!!!

Prince isn't one of my favourite acts by a long way, but I respect and admire A: the prolific and creative musical output he's achieved and B: for doing it HIS way and not being at the mercy of the vultures in the record industry. Go Prince!

I do wonder though if this is actually the way music sales will be going? New albums included in newspapers/ magazines to help sell each other rather than trying to sell on their own through record stores (that are rapidly disappearing...) and being at risk from being downloaded via file sharing? I think Prince has done a very smart move and could lead the way for artists being able to sell their albums off their own back rather than needing record companies and distributors.

Time will tell...
