Panda 2012+ New Panda TA easy on order

Hello , and welcome,
nice cars..got many miles on the 500 yet ?,
as they really improve with 5000+ miles on,

Chalrie

So I've got 520 miles up now on my 500s TA, have I got some improved performance and economy to look forward too? Sorry, I know it's not a Panda but just interested!

Hi again,

YES, they are "tight" engines and take around 7K to free off,
as a "rule of thumb.." the "full power" now will be what it's like on ECO with the engine run in,

as you've got 2 x TA's to run-in I'll advise you to keep an eye on oil consumption..,

letting the fully warm engine over-rev a little on the overrun ( gear too low into corners)

will help the piston rings bed-in and seal more effectively,

I took heed of this advice, mine is perfect..9,000 miles now ( punto),

Hi Charlie

I pick my TA Panda up on Saturday :yum:

Could you expand on that a bit for the un-educated? Also, is there any particular running in stuff that I'll need to do?
Can't remember what I did when I got the multijet 6 years ago....

Cheers Tom

Ran my TA in buy just letting the engine spln freely. Only criteria was do not labour the engine. Now have 16000 miles up does not use a drop of oil runs like a Swiss watch.

Geoff.

Same here with my Trekking TA, now up to ~9000 miles :)

It does vibrate a bit more than my Swiss watch though :D

Chris

Your Swiss watch could have been made in Switzerland and not Hong Kong like mine.

How long does it take everyone to get used to the " quirkiness " of the TwinAir engine?
I'm well used to driving the old Multijet and am really looking forward to my new motor tomorrow. I'd hate to think I'm about to stall the engine when it's only really pretending and it's just how the TwinAir is at low revs. Bouncy but perfectly normal, but I do worry......

Well I've stopped worrying and am now enjoying this engine. Even at lowish revs, it's really fun to drive :tempt:
Only done a about 140 miles so far but the trip is saying 46 to the gallon so far. I'm hopeful that will rise in time. I've found a marked difference in the performance with the eco button on. Around town it doesn't make much difference really, slower of the mark but I can live with it. The stop/start system seems quite unintrusive and hasn't caused any problems as yet.
The biggest thing for me is how much tighter this feels over the old multijet.I know the old Panda was never really the best car around the corners but this little gem is miles ahead. It's the closest thing I've ever had to going round corners on rails.

To sum up my first week...........

I LIKE IT, A LOT (y)

Cheers Tom

First picture, had it 3 weeks now and getting 48mpg
