i am new on here.
just put a deposit on a fiat 500, primarily for the wife but i fully intend playing at go karts with it.
it is a red 1.2 auto so i dont assume it will be quick.

thanks and regards

I have a 500 1.2 auto.

The economy will be pretty much the same as the manual because the auto is not really an auto in the tradtional sense, ie a "torque converter", but rather a robotised manual.

As to what economy you can expect, well that will depend enormously on the sort of driving (city much much worse than motorway, etc), the conditions (colder = worse mpg), the mileage of the car (over a few thousand miles and the mpg should improve a fair bit) and the style of the driver.

Our 500 is used mostly for short town based school runs from cold, and as a result the mpg is dreadful compared to some, but still much better than most cars would be in similar circumstances and twice as good as our old car (a large petrol V6 4x4). Ours is normally somewhere between 35 and 40 mpg. But on a longer run driven sympathetically at a steady 60mph you can easily better 50mpg.

Oh, and you are right that it won't be quick, but it is not a bad car to drive at all.

One question - how old is the car? There is a big difference beween cars up to 2009 model year and those 2010+, with the fitment of a rear anti-roll bar which has a big (positive) effect.
