Hello everyone! Recently got a 2002 1.2 Fiat Punto Mk2 and I have been browsing the forums ever since so I thought I would sign up and introduce myself a little :D The car has 70k miles and two previous women owners so in very good condition :slayer: I am looking to change a few things on the car so is their anything anyone would recommend replacing first? Any questions are welcome! :)

if 16v, cambelt if there is no history :)

if its 8v, service and possible underseal

Only a 8v unfortunately! And I am fortunate to have a fully qualified mechanic in the family so the car has already had a service

Welcome! :)

As you'll see from my signature, I own a 16v. As much as I love it -- and it is fun: even though it's an automatic -- I would have an 8v next time, without hesitating. Easier to work on; cheaper to run; less to go wrong....

Just don't tell Priscilla I said this -- she is a wonderful, wonderful car: but you need a bigger wallet to run one: especially, if, like me, you're disabled, and can't do all of the work yourself.

Enjoy the low-down grunt and economy; and don't worry about top speed, etc.. (y)

If it helps, I also run a 769cc Mk2 Panda (again, see my signature). It has about a dozen horsepower left: but is the most fun car in my 'fleet' to drive... -- by a long way! It's not all about powweeerrrr...! :D

Relatively sane, though, compared to these guys...! :D

Taken at Santa Pod, yesterday morning... -- and no, we're not quite mad enough to have attempted a standing quarter-mile...!

We're very sane here compared to those panda loonies!!!

Welcome to the forum hopefully you'll find all the help you need

Welcome to the forum. You will have a lot of fun with the 8v, I know I do :) They respond really well to a good service and you should see a decent MPG in return (I'm currently getting 52.2mpg which makes my wallet happy!).

If you haven't already, get a thread going in the members motors area and get some piccys up!

Good to hear! I'll get some pictures up at the end of the week hopefully! :)

best i got was 4,329 l/100km or 58.81 MPG but that was driving in 5th like 60-70km/h

Can anybody advise anything to improve the cars performance? I know it's a 1.2 and the 8v engine so I'm not expecting over 100bhp from it but would like to increase by 10 or 20bhp? Thanks :D

Is there much point? If you wanted more power you should have got a bigger engine, plus it won't give you any more go when you press the pedal. A waste of money if you ask me. Just a decent service and replacing life expired or worn parts will give you a better return for your money. Just my two penneth.
