i am after a mp3 player headunit, preferably £200 or there abouts. it will need to last me a couple of years so the more tricks and features the better :)

i do have a ice install on my car so preferably one with preouts would be good

the 2 i have my eye on are the blaupunkt acapulco mp52 and the toronto mp73

remote control is essential :)

i have scanned eBay but only shite effort ones seem to be on there or over priced ones. does anyone know any cheap websites for a headunit ? maybie ex display models or something like that :) ok maybe asking a lot but u never know.

any advice, pics, website urls, experience etc would be great, cheers guys.

Bahney, went in hellfords today and they have a JVC mp3 for £150. looks cool - didnt really check out all its features. 1 trick feature tho - interchangable faces!!! Havent seen that b4.

Re: Re: Re: Re: new mp3 player headunit advice please.

www.empiredirect.co.uk can be quite good.

I have a Sony MP30 which I'm happy with, although I would prefer a bigger display so that the ID3 tags can be displayed properly. Be wary of the Kenwood because the front slides down - your may need to hack your fascia to get it to fit.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: new mp3 player headunit advice please.

Goodmans MP3 /Silver Flipdown and face off.with remote control £99
ARGOS or INDEX

Re: Re: new mp3 player headunit advice please.

get the kenwood one.

I have the same one but mine does not have mp3 capabilities, it's an excellent head unit, looks a lot flasher than others on the market if I don't say so myself, it's one of the only ones with a two stage flip. Check out "pics of my car (with my new digital camera" to see it in action.

Honestly though it's one of the best things I have bought for my car, buy max power and have a look in the ice section near the back, you might be able to get it cheaper than £220.

Let us know which one you get.

Gaz

PS part of it does detach, it's not the screen or buttons though, it's a microchip.

Re: Re: Re: Re: new mp3 player headunit advice please.

it is really nice that mate

but not being funny or out i used to own a kewood mask until some **** looked through my window and realised it was a mask, they take about 5 seconds to pinch, look for a similar one with a clip off front,

i always get stuff from

empiredirect and kelkoo

got my mp3 player for £180 and im well pleased with it, u can get 100's of mps on a disk and on mine u can have folders too,
i got the KDC M6021G

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: new mp3 player headunit advice please.

yeah i thought that as well matty, what i am going to do is get my old original radio and remove the plastic front and use it as a mask so it looks like i have the original radio installed. hopefully that will be enough, although i will rarley have my car in a situation where it can be broken into, i have it locked up at home and then i park in a cctv'd security guarded car park when i go to work.

i just have to rely on luck that some thevin tosser wont come past and take a fancy to it
