Hi, this is my first post.

I purchased an old 2 lite Ulysse SE (1998) today, there are a couple of problems that I was hoping people may be able to help with:

1) There seems to be a problem with the drivers door lock, when the key is used in the lock it just spins around (the previous owner told me there was a knack to getting it to lock but I cant). I can lock the door using the button inside the door - this also locks all the other doors ok. The key works in the passenger door and unlocks/locks all the doors except the drivers. I do have a key fob but this does not work - will try a new battery tomorrow. Not sure if the key fob is made to work whether it will lock all doors?

2) Can't see anything on the trip computer, also the button on the right hand stalk is jammed.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

And welcome.

The issues that you are having with the lock is a common problem with crappy peugeot locks. They require a certain amount of pressure to stop the lock from freewheeling. If it is really bad, then you may need to replace the lock.

The keyfob is remote, so it will lock all doors (Providing the central locking system is fully operational).

As for the trip computer, chances are the bulb has blown, just replace it, While your there, you might as well try and gently coax the reset/mode button back out with a gentle pull from a pair of pliers, or similar. Just don't pull to hard.

Regards

Very common problem with the locks. BTW you don't have to go fishing around for Ulysse/Synergie/806/Scudo etc... locks - Xantia ones fit in my experience (a lot more plentiful).

On a 1998 it's likely your remote is broken anyway - not the most robust items - but at least your central locking works.

Had to go to a Peugeot dealer as my local fiat dealer did not hold stock of the batteries for the key fob. Put a new battery in but still not remote locking. Is there a way of testing the receiver (noticed the window warning lights were not working up near the ceiling lights so maybe a problem with that unit).

Trip Computer is working - displaying the temperature but faintly so probably a bulb. When I took the button off the end of the right hand stalk - should there be a spring in there or a rod (just a long hole behind the button)

Is the remote Infra-Red or the later radio type? If it is the IR type, then press the button and look at it from the camera on a mobile phone.

I think its radio - cant see any led on fob so it must be radio

I think I may have found the problem with the central locking, I took the plastic panel off from the ceiling by the rear view mirror (where the semi spherical sensor is). Under the glass was a empty rectangular space - I suppose this is where the sensor was housed?

khayman, did you get any result with your trip computer/right hand stalk? Mine shows external temp also and button does not press (jammed?) Tryed to pull it out but I`m afraid to crack and destroy it.

i have a 97 p plate 1.9 td. I have problems with locking car. Door locks just swivel so i have to use the key fob. This is problematic but i am in the process of having someone from a local electronics repair shop to look at it. I have a feeling that the pcb inside the key fob can be stripped down and repaired/resoldered. I'll let you know if this works.

I have a 97 P plate and nearly always use the remote locking. However, I thought I had a problem the other day when I used the key and it just turned continuously. It turned out that I had not pushed the key in fully, which allows the key to turn, but not operate the lock. Pushing the key in as far as it will go operated the lock perfectly.

Hope this helps anyone experiencing problems.
