New locs /keys /advice needed

We have had a spare key for our Fiat Idea 1.3 Dynamic (diesel) stolen from the car - along with a sat nav and a selection of other things. Stupid leaving the key I know but there we are. Luckily the key will not start the car - it doen't deactivate the immobiliser - but obviously we do not feel safe leaving anything in the car any longer. I have a quote from Desira in Friern Barnet for £320 labour (aprox 3 hours @ 89.99 per hour + VAT) + £292 full key kit and £53 key reprogramming charge. Is this likely to be the cheapest way back to where we were ? Is there a cheaper but practical option ?

Any thoughts or help appreciated.

On a totally different note. Was it local to you? Does the car stand out (other than the fact it's and Idea and they're not common)?

What I'm trying to get at is it might be cheaper for you to get a private plate, or plate transfer (£250 from DVLA or £80 if transfering a plate you already have on another car). Just it would possibly make them think it's not your car.

Thanks for the thought - unfortunately the car was parked outside my partners home and I actually think that she was targeted by a group of kids - she has a habit of carrying things from the car to the flat in several loads and not locking the vehicle inbetween - I don't see how the car was locked when it happened and so I think they took the sat nav and key when she was not by the vehicle. It seems such a lot of money for such a small slip but there you go.
