Spreading his doors after a long Leeds - Perth trip on half a tank.
is your sun strip on the inside or outside , cos some on ebay say stick to the outside which i think wud look sht?

he hashis on the outside mate...i have mine on inside but if you want it done inside i strongly suggest going to a window tint place and getting them to use a dark tint film on the inside of the windscreen like i have

that way it looks good and dark from outside but on inside you can still see through the windscreen as if its clear where the tint is :) the other types will block your view so you wont see top bit of the windscreen anymore

:yeahthat: As brin said mine is a roll from a Motor Factors and applied. It can be used inside and outside according to the box, but outside is easier to apply.

Cheap rolls look ok, mine works fantastically well. but would prefer the "Blue Transition" style of strip.

Punto looks good. Shame to see it go. I was thinking of selling my punto next year. But decided to keep it until Im 100% happy handing it over.

Cheers, yeah it will be sad to see it go. But the milage that i do and what i do outside of university, i need a bigger car and engine. The thing is, i bought the Punto because i needed it, not because i loved it. As said before it replaced my wrote off Seat Leon.

If i bought this car later and with the JTD engine i think things would be different.

Ive loved every moment with this car, but because of its italian habits, its cost me well over £1k in repairs in 1year! Time for something reliable. (Ford?? :D)

Looks nice mate !

Cheers Mate (y)

fords are very reliable tbh...they dont have many obvious common problems like other cars...same with vauxhalls however buying a diesel the injectors seals tend to go but can be replaced yourself not hard :)

i would strongly recommend a focus/fiesta or astra they are great reliable cars mate

all german cars a sh*t most unreliable car you can buy especaiily the diesils my word there crap (VW, SEAT, SKODA, AUDI)...looking at turbo's blowing, engines blowing, sumps cracks, endless antiroll bar links wishbone, DSG gearboxes not worth buying at all trust me its all i do all day lol...i do like the blue dials tho :p

old japanese cars are very reliable newer ones not so good too many electrical problems so wouldnt pesonally bother, newer Fiat's are same talking the GP couple of electrical problems :/

just thought id give my view on it to save you troubles in future :)

looking good mate asways like the astra bertones very nice

is it not the turbo model?

very nice mate(y)

No. its the 1.8l 130BHP model. so its the bottom version of the Bertone.

The 2.0Turbo is stupidly expensive to insure, so is the 2.2l.

However this one is a good car, bought it for £3,200. so need finance on £1k. its on a 53plate, with 1 owner and only done 45k miles.

Its not met all my specification i set out before, its only missed out on MPG and to be Diesel.

it is obviously a petrol, and only does 48mpg extra urban, same as the Punto. but the larger tank means that it'll go further than the Punto per week. Which is fine by me.

Poor Poor choice. Handle like a barge apparently. Plus you haven't got the turbo model? It's going to be a bore. Plus it looks very feminine.

You'll be missing your Punto within weeks of driving that thing. ;)

Non the less, it does look tidy. Any plans for it?

Driven my mates car, which is the same spec down Woodhead Pass in Yorkshire, and it handles superbly, much better than anything ive driven before.

the 1.8 is the best compromise, its the best for economy (not that what's this car is designed for ;) ) however, it is lazy below 4000rpm, but above that it is very quick for what it is. 70mph in 5th is only 2,200rpm too so good for cruising (y)

YOUR JUST JEALOUS RAWB :p haha.

Yes, tint the rear windows and lower it 35mm. then sort out the stereo system. but induction kit is a must at some point too.

Superbly in comparison to a Punto, I bet it feels worse but more planted as it's got a longer wheel base.

I can see the reasons behind you getting the 1.8, thinking of the pro's and cons of having a faster engine to economy. Seems like a semi decent cruiser but once you stick on 'VXR alloys' im sure that will be lost.

Im not sure im jealous, it's a strange choice of car. Vauxhall for a start, then the bertone version that isn't all that great. I guess it's your car at the end of the day :) As long as you are happy then that is good.

Plenty better cars out there in the same price range but im sure it'll be as good a learning curve for you as you Punto has been. How bad is the finance agreement if you don't mind me asking as it's been crossing my mind lately also (although my finance would be on something a tad more expensive) (y)

As a fellow MK2B owner (even had the same colour as your good self) it's a shame to see it go. £2200 is a great offer though! I got my 16v Active Sport for just less than £2000 from a dealer so you got a really good deal on it.

Hope you stick around the forums though matey.

RAWB; finance isnt too bad, its only for around £1200 and through the bank. got a year to pay it off, and seen as its not against the car, it wont show on HPI checks.

QUAFFLE; dont get me wrong the MK2B is a great little car, just need something bigger. as said before, the Punto was a replacement for my much loved SEAT so has always felt odd. I bought my Punto for £3500 last year. got offered £2200 by the dealer and thought it was reasonable.. not complaining with that

I'll be sticking around the Forum, i help organise events in Yorkshire and the North. so will still be here, the Vauxhall will be in the Non Fiat section too
