New here had a 500e La Prima convertible since 2021. Love it most of the time! Boot won't open. Had to open it manually with a screwdriver in the catch, didnt solve the problem, any ideas? Its now out of warranty
First check the relevant fuse of couse. Obvious but sometimes we forget the obvious. Do you have a volt meter? If so first thing to check is if the wires have power when you operate the key. If not the likely thing is a poor contact / or earth. Airosol electrical contact cleaner is now quite good (Halfords do this among others). If you dont get life then I would take the lock off, and give is a scrupulous clean. I littel carb cleaner celans everything out. These locks have microswitches that sense when the lock is closed or open if these fail its likely a new lock job. Once clean lube with a specific lock lube and / or some WD40 with PTFE or similar. You should be able to flip the lock mechanism with a screw driver so it thinks its closed and then try it out where you can see what its up to. If you get voltage when operating the key or open button and no movement you may need a new lock. There are other posts on this on here so try a search. Im glad you like the 500e. Please do tell us about how it performs and what it costs in the real world. It may help a few like me ot become more accepting of EV's. I still dont rust them. I need about 25 years to acclimatise.
