New Head Unit.

Help please! I'm after a new cd/mp3 head unit to replace the ghastly cd player thats come with my new Punto. I've had a quick dabble with the search but couldnt really find anything. So far i've found 2 head units which look good the sony CDX-F7500 (£159.99) and the pioneer DEH-P7600MP (£169.99). I want one that plays mp3 cd's and sounds really good (plenty of base etc) but dont really wanna fork out more than £200, is this possible or am I dreaming?!

Anyone got any idea's?

If you want a cd player that plays cds that you've burnt mp3's onto (am i correct in thinking you want that) then most cd players will do that, mine does that and that was under £100 plus its 4x50 watts so good sound

yeah thats what i mean, what stereo do you have then? The stereo I had in my old car was a sony 4 x 50w but i didnt think it was up to much. Is it just the watts that determines the sound quality? coz there's loadz of figures for ohms and dB & i dont have the foggiest idea what it all refers to! :bang:

you tried halfords - they were flogging off some cheap HU when i went in last week - eeeek another rochdalian which shell do you work at btw - the one in norden sure i seen the car there on sat morning

You want to find the RMS, the higher this is the louder you can turn it up basically.

Preouts are the spare cables that you use to connect an amplifier......

And yes hafords will have loads of cheap head units. If you look you should find an MP3 player for well under 100.

The Sony CDXF7500 is absolutely mint at that price (http://www.lowcostcaraudio.com) Its 300 in halfords. I bought one just before Christmas and absolutely love it.

You cant buy better for that price in my opinion

Don't only think of going to places like Halfords! You can get bargains in the unlikeliest of places. Take my head unit - JVC, 4x45W (4x17W RMS) preout, CD-RW capability, basically all I'd need for £65. I got it from my local Makro.

Yep, internet specials are a good place to start.
Find a HU you like then find it cheaper.

Whatever you do dont buy from halfords!!!! They are currently ripping everyone off on most units!!!

The sony cdx s2200 cd/mp3 player however is pretty cheap at the minute its half price!! My missus has that in her car and i would say it is a pretty good as a nice starter cd/mp3 player!!!

I see you have seen the sony cdx f7500 headunit!! I have the model up the f7700 and i would recommend that except that is post 200 quid, although there isnt very many differences between the two models with the f7700 being slightly louder is the only difference i know about!!

So there ya go i help that helps ya!! Id recommend sony over anything any day so for you id reckon the f7500!!!

good stuff, al av a rummage on the net for a bargain CDX-F7500 or better then. Yeah I work at the norden shell, you cant really miss the car can u? she's pretty bright, although she's covered in a thick layer of snow at the mo.

thought so - i was thw crazy woman in the blue coop washing it at the jet wash bit on saturday ready for the meet and it froze over as i was cleaning it
