i have finaly found a company that does better gearboxes for the hgt lol

AVANTI MOTORSPORT

the same guys who had messed with the grean beast.

plus they reckon that the timing on a hgt is adjustable and with a superchip gasflowed head and cams and exhaust 200bhp is atainable and with the new gearbox the sacred 7.0 0-60 time is broken he reckons youre looking at low 6s lol

seems like a big budget conversion isnt needed after all lol

its not just the final drive what he replaces its everything, i dont know how but i do know these guys no there stuff seing as they were building cars while alot of us werent even born lol

So when we say someone on here has actually got close to 200BHP with fast road cams and a remap you don't believe us yet when a tuner says it may be possible you're all too happy to get out your wallet?

no mate i was skeptable but then when i thought about it my 306 must have been the same to get 180 at the wheels,

I have heard of avanti motorsport, i think they did the Lancia engine conversion on Allan Walls Brava.

200 is in reach, with forced induction supersprint and remap my last hgt147 was 168 BHP at 4300 RPM in 4th according to the rolling road i used (a tvr track preperation specialist in sussex)
cams you are looking at another 15-20 so that is getting close without any port work

ive got to ring them up next thursday about the gearbox as they offered to find me a gear box for the car, but the other stuff will after wait for a couple of months as i am saving like mad now for the money,

£2400 gets you.

ported , polished, matched ports, new valves etc, cams, adjustmen of cams, chip, .

the guy reckons it could make anything upto 190bhp with that stuff but he said the horsepower doesnt mater as the gear box hes building me will be equivelent to 30% more power. i think it will defonatley be faster than the old one as that didnt have a new gearbox on it, so cant wait lol, if i can get some good jobs in i could possibly get it this month.

Fitting a new gearbox will give you 30% more power???

Theres something wrong there. You lose maybe 5% max due to gearbox efficiency. There is no way your telling me that you lose over 30% of engine power in the gearbox. Unless he is fitting something else as well as the gearbox.

The gearbox doesnt make the engine produce more power it only transfers that power produced to the wheels, so changing the final drive etc will not make the car more powerful. Might make it accelerate faster, but then lose top speed and vice versa.

£2400 is a bit much.

Plus with the different final drive your car won't go as fast.

when i said it would be worth at least 30% more power i ment like when you stick it on a track, like putting a good set of brakes and suspsension is worth alot of horsepower.

j he hasnt got back to me yet on the tech were still looking for a box. but when i get the figues i'l post them on here.

tom, i aint boverd bout top end ive been looking into sprint style racing, a lad we did a job for races a mini lol and its realy cheap to enter the FIA licsence etc cost over #400 and the meets can be upto #200 a meet then youve got tyres etc, im starting at the bttom first, plus from what ive seen it loks realy fun.

tom mine is a 147 hgt so it cant be mapped etc its got to be chipped, the chip though thats coming with the cams etc has been designed for that setup so i guess that is as near to remapping as im gunna get lol but im still not sure yet anyway, im gunna d the box first then think about it if it is worth doing or not

Thats bull**** we can map the 147 and 155 ECU Live mapping. The 147 ECU is the same as the coupe 20VT turbo.
