Hi,as a real mechanical thicko, I have recently had an accident and drove over an exhaust system that someone had kindly left in the road! My question is can the externals of the gear box be bought and replaced without the need for a new compete box. The garage has quoted me a small morgage to replace the box??Thanks in advance

as a new unite, I don't think so.
But you might consider getting a salvaged part, or even one with internal problems and having a gearbox specialist swap them over for you.

My advice is to get in touch with a gearbox specialist and propose this option to them and see what they will ask for such a job.

Cheers,
Dan

I highly doubt it, seems that with FIAT parts you have to get the entire unit... unless you can find a wrecked one someone is selling the parts off of. That's as far as I know though.

You mean the housing is broke?

I would try to find a breaker on ebay or similar.

If its not bad I'm sure you could have it tig welded :D

thanks,

The exhaust I went over bent a bar underneath and hit the gear box, the casing is cracked and leaking, also the bracket at the rear of the gear box has broke. Hope this explains.

Thanks

depending on your motor (petrol/D) the stilo box will fit, its basically the same car underenath
