New design 6x9

Crappy pic, taken from a camera phone of a page from a mag, but you kind of see it.

Its the new Vibe Audio oblong 6x9. Its only £130 for the pair, and has been given rave reviews.

Design-wise they look great, can take 175W RMS, or 700W PMPO. They are supposed to be really heavy, with a huge magnet, so no mounting on your cardboard parcel shelf

I posted this for all the budget car hi-fi people out there, for which a headunit, and amp and a pair of these is enough.

So if components and subs aren't your thing, these are ideal.

Forgot to add, they offer a 93db efficiency, and have 17% more surface area than an oval 6x9.

Hmmm, Ignore the PMPO Fig for a start. PMPO (Peak Music Power Output) AFAIK doesnt actually exist- it was invented as a marketing gimmic.

93dB sounds kewl though, thats about 10000times the amplification between input and output power's if im wrong (Its a guess but could probs calc. it if yu cared!)

Overall though, i think those speakers will be popular. Personally, i prefere components and subs but think those suit alot of people.

Are'ent they just subs for mounting on the parcel shelf? I have seen some 6x9 subs before for mounting on the shelf.

Full range speakers. They house a horn tweeter, i'd like to hear how they sound, obviously not as good as components, but i think they'll kick other 6x9s into touch.

Just read the article on them in Lax Flower, lol!. Horns rule, shame they'll be in the back as the imaging can be suberp with horns. Still cant see tghe point in sticking them on the back shelf tho!

Perhaps in a system such as;

Headunit, amp, these speakers, the speakers could be fitted in pods in the footwells, rather than a parcelshelf.

In an airtight pod, any speaker sounds better anyway, so thats an idea for anyone considering these. Also, RRP £130, you will see these for a snip under £100 after a while as competition increases between companies.

As for my new car (3 months away!) i have a rather tasty system planned. Hush hush
