General New Clutch cost

I have had 2 quotes for a new clutch, one was for about £600 from a small garage and the other was for £700 from a dealer for an R reg Ulysse 2.0S.

Does this sound over the top or is it about the right price?

We bought our Ulysse towards the end of last year and one of the first jobs that needed doing was the clutch aswell. Like you, we went to a number of garages for quotes and they generally came back with costs for 6 hours labour + parts + vat. So anything from around £500 upwards.
BUT BEWARE!!!!!!!
As you can see on previous threads, and as we found out, DO NOT USE MR CLUTCH CENTRES
They may be very cheap ( the branch in Slough quoted us £284 all inc, ), but this would appear to reflect the quality of workmanship they provide.

Still sounds over the top for me, you should be able to get it done for £300 approx by a reputable local garage.
If your near Nottingham I could recommend one.

well a clutch kit costs £45.13 for your ulysse hate to think what that works out per hour

Couldn't believe it but yep. £45.13+vat.. Mine with just parts came to over £600!

i payed £377 its a 5 hours job from local garage,they put in a valeo clutch kit they gave me a 2 year warranty. not bad i suppose.

Just done mine had a friend helping me but it only took us just over 3 hours :slayer: £52 inc vat for clutch unit and i fitted a new cable as well even though the dealers say it cannot be done (dealers job according to them!!!!)
