General New battery?

Well, I went to drag our car out last Friday, turned the key and......... nothing!

Not even a glimmer from the panel lights!

So, pulled the battery out, and then notice the date on it - "If not fitted by 2004 then recharge" sticker on the side.

Bit of an antique so, no problem I thought, I'll buy a new one.

Toddled along to our friendly local motor factors, and asked for a price on an 038 battery which is fitted at present.

£52.00 + VAT..........

Even Halfrauds have them on their website at £40.00, and given that I was expecting a price of around £20.00 trade, it came as a bit of a shock to say the least!

Has anyone replaced a battery recently?

If so, where did you get it from?

More importantly, what did it cost you?

Do delrene's scrappy still do new batteries - they were always cheap with two year warranty

Try Makro. But lead prices have rocketed in the last couple of years so be prepared for a small shock at least.

They don't do new ones anymore, but I bought a good second hand one off them for £10......

hows it going oops. Im happy to hear that it was caused by the dead battery and nothing more serious. I purchased mine at autozone, which im sure you must have over there for about $85.00 USD.

Well, the second-hand battery that I paid £10.00 (about $16) for is working just fine!
