Hi guys!

I've been prowling this forum for a wee while now and I'm actually getting a car in a few months but my decision is simple...somewhat.

First car, should it be a 500? I just really love the Punto though!

What's all your opinions on either side of the fence it would be appreciated.

I've literally spent years narrowing it down to these 2 so I need help basically lol.

Regards,

Loz

Hi,

Practicality's are..,

the punto is an OK town car and a good load-lugger , nice on long motorway trips

500 is a great town car, a bit cramped for 4-up journeys - limited load space.

We've got the panda and punto options of this scenario,
panda for around town / punto for road trips,

running costs are al down to the engine type = same engine range for BOTH cars,

Punto are also a cheaper used buy , insurance = down to engine's again.

I hope that helps a little,
Charlie

Hi I got a 10 reg punto EVO go a few months ago after my brother got a really good deal on a pre- registered one, I don't know about the 500 but there are some really good deals out there on puntos at at the moment, they're nice to drive and I've not had any trouble getting around this winter :)

Thanks for the replies guys, after looking about apparently the 500 is a girls car so think I'll be going for the Punto instead hehe.

I'm a fifty year old male and am waiting for my 500 to be delivered :D. don't believe what you read and go for the car that 'floats your boat'. The 500 ticked all the boxes I wanted (and then some) and in my opinion has an eternal look which won't age as quickly as the others in its class (as its based on a 50's design anyway (y))

EDIT: never ask on a car forum what car you should buy but what problems the car/s your interested in may have. Everyone on here will 'love' the car they own but that may not be what is right for you. I would (and I'm sure others would) feel really bad it if you bought a car on my say so and you hated it. The best thing to do is try out a few different cars and you will get in one and feel as if you've 'come home' that is the one to buy

that don't suddenly make it not a girls car, it just means you will be a 50 year old mad driving a girls car.
1 of my cars is a classic panda and i'm straight it don't suddenly make classic panda a straight car its not a choice he was born like it.

Thanks guys,

I prefer the look of the Punto to be honest but reading all the problems is starting to put me off if I'm honest.

Personally I wouldn't have a panda if someone gave it to me but thats my choice. I certainly don't think its a gay car I just don't like the way it looks, maybe because I remember the original 500's I'm 'trying to capture my youth' with a new more reliable :ROFLMAO: one, or maybe I just like it. I don't think there are male/female cars there are just cars. Some we like some we don't, for the last six years I have been driving Hyundai Coupes, a modified 2.0l and a standard V6 both of which were considered uncool and castigated in the motoring press. They were infact very reliable and fast cars that still look good, just because a few people say something that doesn't make it true.

I have been driving Hyundai Coupes,

ah you will be ok with a 500 then you are used to it

Well it might be a gay car but I'm gay anyways so wouldn't make a difference to me personally haha!

Although personally I don't like the look of the new panda, but that's my my opinion I suppose!

only the classic panda is gay, the new ones not cool enough to be gay.

*don't take me too seriously
Haha fair enough! Think I'll be looking into Corsa's and Ibiza's also just to make sure I use a nice big net around everything :)

i had a brand new corsa as a hire car when my car was in bodyshop for crash repair, i hated it, it was soulless :(
Lot of my friends who just started driving have them, it's the reason I fancied a Punto to stand out a little bit!
