I've just bought an absolute bargain for my seicento...

Its the Alpine CDA-9833 Its an mp3 player looks nice too. Cost £160.

By the way the new deck that looks the biz are the CDA-9855... touch screen alpines now thats what im talking about. Mind you its expensive though.

You can pick up the really really nice 7998 models now (fantom XL face ones) for around £160 if you know where to look.

Come on people where everyone does!!! Ebay

But not the UK crappy ones where the fantom face stereo go for £380 and the 9833 like i bought are nearly £300... No im talking about the bigger cheaper version... Ebay america. The only problem is you need someone willing to send to the UK but if you can find someone like i did you sorted. I picked up a £300 stereo a damn good one too for £160. I would have liked to have got the CDA-9855 but at £240 its alittle expensive for me i'd be well pee'd if someone broke into my seicento and stole it. But for you guys with alittle better security and money its a must...

Was it compatible for UK spec though bcos you have to remember tho that when buying from america and other countries the units are set up for that country i.e the radio tuner, it can be expensive to rectify for UK compatibility. Ive heard some horror stories. The best way to look at it would be the radios in jap cars that get imported. The double Din size ones im talking about. Its alright getting a bargain from another country but is it uk spec????

Obviously your not going to get a double din size one unless you want that. Also to put everyones mind at rest, the US stereo's are exactly the same as the UK ones because they use the same radio frequencies ect... (also if your getting an mp3 unit does that really matter) Anyway having imported a car from japan i know the problems that can occur getting a jap radio they dont pick up uk fm radio and you need a band expander and there crap to put it nicely. So radios from jap are a no no but the US ones are fine. There exactly the same as the UK models but US prices. Anyway mine arrives either tomorrow or monday so i'll let you know how i get one and put up some pictures but i dont know how yet.

What about import tax? Couldn't you get caught with that? i'm not sure it's worth risking, as i haven't got much money, and 160 is about my limit, i couldn't afford another bill when it gets to the UK?!?! Do you rekon the new CDA-9847 is a good buy at www.caraudiodirect.co.uk? I think i am going to purchase this head unit from them, it looks ok, and it doeos it's job, although it is nothing special! Cheers, Tom

Right well in terms on import tax, its nothing to worry about especially if your buying from a nice ebayer member. All you have to remember is tell who ever your buying from to value the stereo at a maximum value of $60. And mark it a gift on the customs form. This will mean it gets through no problem. Even if you do get cought if its been marked down you'll have to pay maybe £10.

I've imported loads of parts, I used to have a Honda CRX Del Sol, and imported a CAI, my full turbo setup, coilover kits etc.... You just need someone whos nice enough to declare a cheaper value for you on the other end.

Hope this help everyone
Cheers

I wasnt dissing saying you were stupid or anything, ive just heard there have been problems with headunits from foreign countries in the past particiularly sony! So obviously i didnt want to see it happen to another FF member!!

CRX Del Sol-Isnt that a shoe on wheels!!! :D (y)
