The 500 that was delivered to our Stealer in December is still sitting in the showroom looking very sorry for itself.

IMO It depends on how it was configed as to how easy it will sell.

that doesn't surprise me. it was probably one of the last ones without the new suspension and start/stop. My dealer wanted me to have one of those to :)

I would have gone for the showroom model. The new suspension is alright but it's not worth a 3 month wait IMHO and start stop is only going to be great if you spend most of your life in traffic jams.

wasn't willing to risk it just in case Start/Stop becomes the next big thing and resale values of non start stop models were effected - probably never would but I'm not one of life's chancers :p

Start&Stop technology has been around in cars before. It's fairly safe to say it's not going to be a deciding factor for people above and beyond colour/spec.

Have i missed something? You ordered Ragamuffin RED and the car turned up but wasn't orange? I'm confused. I certainly wouldn't spend that much money on a paint finish without seeing it in the metal.

As for having a brand new car resprayed, if you dealer offers to do this for you, run like hell. Your car will never go back together correctly, new cars never do. 10-15% discount? Can't see them doing that. As has been said, find out what colour the car is. If its ragamuffin, its your own fault for not checking to see if you liked the colour first.

Not so fast Tony,

The OP wanted the pearlescent colour, Calypso was only metallic IIRC and Raggamuffin is pearlescent.

Calypso is not metallic it is a solid colour (at least the one outside my house is!!)

We didn't order until we could see the actual colour in the flesh as it were. Our dealer put us in touch with Barry (nouva500) and he kindly met us with his car - as soon as we saw it we were sold!!

The OP problem seems to be that a) they thought Barry's car was metalic and it's not, b) the only orange colour now in production is Ragamuffin Red. However as others have said the orange shades can look red/brown/orange depending on the light - I got a parking ticket and the car was described as Brown! I was more annoyed about that, than the ticket!!!

Is Rag Red available on a standard 500, it used to only be on 500Cs?

So OP if it's Orange you're after, then Rag Red is the only option. Paso red, that others have mentioned, is also a non-metallic, solid colour, so it should be easy enough to know.

The OP seems to have lost interest anyway, but the clue to the colour is in the name, I mean it's not described as Ragamuffin green, but RED.
Tis common on this forum, OMFG my car is brokens!!!!! then people come and say it's fine and person never comes back.

yeah yeah well I'm back :p had a late night at the garage last night.

after much debate we've decided to go with the car. Saw it in another light and does look good, better than pasadoble at least. At the end of the day if we cancelled then we would lose the scrappage scheme deal. If another colour was chosen then it'd be another month or more.

Had another hiccup today getting the finance paperwork signed up, they need two utility bills with Carole's name on... the council tax has her name on but the rest have mine! Oops, they don't seem to want to take a payslip so just waiting on them to get back to us :bang:

stick with it, ragamuffin red is a stunning colour and has a definate orange hue when its sunny (good luck with that one!!!!!).....i have it on my 500c, however, the £700 fiat charge you for it is a p**s take (pearlescent paint on my discovery 3 was only £500 and there must be a least three times as much of it!!!!!)

i can empathise with the finance woes.....try finding a utility bill when you do everything online paper free :bang:

In all honesty you didn't have much choice, they ordered the correct colour and that's what was delivered.... a car to you spec.
