Technical Need to Service my Punto... Recommended Parts..?

Hi!

I just got my brake pads changed from a garage and that bloke told me that my oil needs changing it was very dirty lol.

So I need to know which parts I need to buy.

They told me they can service it for 60+ with parts but they will use standard oil OR £20 with out parts.

So can someone please recommend me the BEST parts for my 2004 Fiat Punto 1.2 16V ?

What were they doing poking around in your oil when they were doing brake pads? Did you give them permission to do an inspection.

As for the best parts, head down to your local motor factors and source them from there. The car parts market is a funny place since the smaller shops tend to have the best prices. In most other markets, larger retailers and online retailers are the discount kings. I guess the likes of Halfords play on the fact that >90% of people driving cars actually know nothing about the mechanics of a car.

As for oil and air filters, my uncle swears by Fram fillters for both his motorbikes and tractors (at the extremes of the speed scale there).
