Hi mate try and keep this all on one thread in the future, see the tyre calc i mentioned earlier

I changed from 195/55/15 to 205/50/15 on my 155 HGT but then the HGT alloys can take the 205's dunno about others you'd have to check. I have a set of mk1 HLX alloys and think they can only take 185 or 195's? But as i'd be putting winter tyres on them then i'd only want 195's as you cant get snowchains over 205's! Really depends what you are after bigger no then more rubber on the road!

Basically more width, if you want the cheapest possible combination then spend hrs working it out, or buy steelies. I paid about £45 per tyre at the time. Quick fit etc wanted over £70! But that was for decent ones, do you want the cheapest then get them, if you want the better ones then you pay a bit more.

thanx for the info... i hear what ur saying about getting what u pay for... i dont want cheap and nasty tyres but at the same time i havent got the cash flow right now to be paying £100 a wheel. so its kinda finding the middle man..

going back to what ud said about changing from 195/55/15 to 205/50/15 ..how do i know if my alloys will take them.? what kinda messurement am i looking at.? for starters i dont even know what wheels are on it.. there were there when i brought it and i havent seen them anywhere else..

so i guess my question to u is.. what messuremnt am i looking for to see if i can put 205/50/15 tyres on and do u have any advise for me in trying to get that imformation about my mystery wheel.. :0)

thanx..

Tim.

you need to find the rim size. it's written somewhere on the front of the wheel. something like
7x15 . anywhay a 195/55/15 205/50/15 and 195/50/15 should go with no problems on wheels from 5.5x15 to 7x15 .
