It's a bit more than just a wanted ad, more a sort of group assistance on a trans-poland venture that came up...

M.A.D (or lets just call him Michal, lol) needs most of the mechanicals from a panda 4x4 to save his own and I'm interested in this...

We want to do a swap soon but I need to find a rusty 4x4 that Michal can take back to Poland and cost no more than 400 pounds.... Yeah, I know high order!

Body wise it can be as rough as it comes but it must have to be able to make it 1500 miles back to poland and I might have to beg some help to get the panda to meet with the 126...

I'll post in the classifieds too but I might need some personal help too ;)

Jim

I'm guessing it's specifically the 4x4 components he's after Jim. You don't see many 4x4's listed on Ebay, let alone a tatty one, Perhaps the next time your over you could visit as many scrappys on your route to wherever you're going? I think this is a tall order, but i'm sure we'll all do as much as we can to help

That 126 looks nice too!

I've always wanted a 126... My mad great aunt had a DeVille that she got once got lost in one night and ended up stuck on a pedestrian bridge over the M2 which the police then closed thinking that a light aircraft had crashed onto the bridge.

I know the buying of the panda is going to be a tall order, like there are none at any price on ebay at the min so if you hear anything I'd be much appreciated.

(as will michal as he's not had his on the road for a year and a half cause of lack of parts etc)

Jim

edit - the parts required are the prop shaft, rear axle, springs and the 4x4 leaver and linkage so it would be easier to buy a whole car I think that try and transport that lot to poland...

Hi,
I'm planning to drive a 126 over two K kilometers, but let's just call me Michal :D

Oh you'll be fine... Oh and btw it's 2581km from Warsaw to Belfast Ireland

A panda can do that before Breakfast :p

You might find some one in this bar in Warsaw that might want a lift?

"Belfast" on the sticker is a name of beer produced in Poland ;)

Anyway,

PLEASE, help Jim (and me) find a nice rusty 4x4 :D

One shall not look far, for he might find what he's looking for close(er) to his home.

In other words, I've found her!
I found a 4x4 panda which will give parts to my oldest 4x4 panda in the world!

After over a year of searching through ebay anf other sites, I found this:

Now I just hope that the parts are worth 200 pounds and c.a. 600 miles drive.

Wish me luck!

:D

I wish you luck, although you don't want me to help you carry her home;)

My red Panda has LPG and I'm quite happy with it.
As for costs-
loss of luggage space- two thirds of the trunk
around 40% gain on the cash/mile
(I still use petrol to warm up the engine, especially in the winter)

Why? You Panda is carbed isn't it? It should start straigh away from cold on LPG, just got to be careful how the exchanger in the cooling system is installed or you'll get that freezing up and the car will konk out on LPG.

I'm not that good with English LPG vocabulary, but I'll try.
Gas has to have certain density to make the engine run. It is warmed up in the evaporator.
This winter, when temperatures were around -20C, I've expirienced how it feels to drive on too cold LPG (n)

Starting cold engine on LPG when the temperatures are lower than 20C (plus) damages the membrane in the evaporator.

LPG has bad influence on engine parts, when left for long. There are cases of damaged float (?) in the carb.

2nd and 3rd might be wrong, but most people in Poland, who have LPG+carb start the engine with petrol in the morning, and leave it with petrol for the night and longer breaks during the day. With exception for summer, whenn the temperature is high.

Yes, I said exchanger, which is same as evaporator.

I didn't know about 2+3 as my Stilo is all electronic as its injection, so I have no choice over it starting on Petro (n)

At point 1 I didn' realise just how cold it got so can now see why you start with petrol! :)

Could you post some pic's if possible at somepoint of your Panda's LPG system?

Jon.

I'd need a few days to do that, but here is a photo of the instalation in the panda I bought.

I know it doesn't look to tidy, but...

on the left (not the spare wheel) side shock absorber there is a pereol electrovalve. Left and down from it exchanger- two rubber hoses with the cooling liquid, one rubber hose (the one with metal joint) taking LPG from the exchanger to the carborator and a metal spring shaped pipe from the LPG tant to the excharger.
I'm not sure, where the LPG electrovolve is, but it must be there somewhere.
