ok i blew my engine and now need a replacement where? how much? which one fits? mechanic will fit for 175 is this reasonable. thankx in advance btw its a 1.4 brava
thanks a lot for all the info will do what i can if i get time off work otherwise the mech will do all the work and i will pay for it cause its being del ther also how much time should it take to fit it cause he has the old one out
Not long if he knows what he is doing. Ask if he can clean the spray bar and the sump, throw him a few more beer tokens. Its worth doing while you have the chance.
will do is that all i can do cause the seller says its been fully tested and is guaranteed for 6 months is there any tell tale signs that something major has gone wrong in the past?
just wip the rocker cover off and check the cam as it is the main thing that goes wrong on the 1400's thats about all you can do it will either run or it wont
shouldnt take the mechanic more than 2 or 3 hours if the old one is already out
i got my 1600 out in 2 hours rebuilt it over a week of evenings and put it back in in an afternoon with my old mans help
it takes longer to get the gearbox out on a bravo than it does to get the engine out as i found out a few weeks ago when my clutch went
right thanks to both of you and tom will def check the cam cause thats what went on my old one will let you know how it goes on monda when i have a day off
@ash mine is a brava so will that make much difference to the gearbox and i heard that the 1.4 is the worst engine is it true?
The 1.4 is a bit sucky (don't let Buzz hear you say that though ), it seems if they are not maintained perfectly and/or do a lot of short trips the oil spray bar clogs up with crud and stops oiling the cam just as you discovered.
yeah did i ever the damn scared the shite out of me when it blew. is there a good way of keepin it clean on a regular basis or am i just stuck with a cruddy engine, also if i was to put a different engine in what would fit if any without too much trouble?
