Need A New Amp

Hi all i am in need of a new amp and was wondering if anyone could help me. I currently have 2 12" jbl subs and a rubbish splx 1000 watt amp and i want to change the amp. Any suggestions??

I wouldnt suggest matching RMS exactly. Its a common mis-conception that you must match your output power. When it comes to running speakers from an external amp, I would say go for an amp that is around 25% more than the speaker is rated. Just so that the amp will be in control of the speaker, not vice versa.

What? So youre saying if my amp RMS's at 600W, my sub should RMS at 450W??? The Physics of that cant work...thats running the speaker damn near maximum power, which cant be good for it....

It sounds mad, I know, but thats how it should be run. If you have a sub at say 600w RMS I would inded get an amp at about 600w RMS.[:0]

At full gain you would be running the sub at its limits but you dont run the amp at full gains do you? When running a more powerful amp it becomes apparant that you dont need to run the amp as hard to get the same effect.

I dont know the ins and outs but this is definitly the way to do it.

sandos right here, running an amp at lower volume levels is better for the amp and usually offers a better quality output than running an amp at full power, therefore a more powerful amp will be better at running lower power subs when at a lower volume than a smaller amp runnin full power all the time to power a matched sub, u will generally find an amp at full volume may distort slightly or have signal imperfections which may affect quality of the bassline. What wattage are your Subs and if your looking for a top notch amp, i'd try legacy red or something like alpine (as suggested earlier), all depends on your budget and needs though!
