Yeah, I felt bad for him reading that too
Never going into a finance deal again myself. Would rather drive bangers than do it again.
My situation was I wanted a car, simple as that. Went on a deal on a 1.2 8v Punto Mk2 on £99 a month for 5 years. Roughly 2 years in, the engine went pop and needed £850 of sorting to put it back on the road. So the dealer "offered" me a deal where I'd get the Stilo for the first year at the same rate of £99 a month and then £199 for 4 years after that (Fiat would be paying £100 toward my first year with the Stilo). Agreed to it, though they had said they would knock off the £850 due for my old Punto. However, this was a verble agreement with the salesman. Next day, walked in after paying my deposit and was told "Err, no, that's not part of the deal" by the sales manager with 2 henchman either side and the prat of a salesman in the background.
With hindsight, I should've just swallowed my pride and gotten out of there and kept the Punto, but hey, it's a wonderful thing to ask "what if I'd...?". So was basically left to pay the remainder of the Punto finance, the engine work and the Stilo (£4995 forecourt price), working out over all at around £12k
So yeah, I feel for the guy.
Still though, less than 2 years to go and though RGZ's coming together and I'm almost starting to enjoy driving her, I just want something else now.
