General NavTech Disk

Hi,

Got email from NavTech - new disk now in post! Good idea about flogging one on eBay - must be worth something to somebody! Buyer collects, to save postage.....

My car (delivered September 4) was shipped with Autumn/Winter 2002. I registered on reciept and got a free Spring/Summer 2003 in the post in 4 days. I wish I had waited now, as I'd like to get an update when the M6 relief road is included on it! I wonder if I can get my company to pay for the next update?! :)

Hi

Just received the Autumn/Winter 2003 disk in the post yesterday!

It came with another registration document. I wonder if I could register it in my name [the original via the missus] and use my work address. Will that mean I get another free update next year? Gotta to be worth a try, surely!!! They can always say no!

Stuart

Hi,

Been a couple of months since I did mine, but isn't there something on the form that asks you to identify the vehicle you're registering?

I'd be interested (as I'm sure will a number of others!) to hear the outcome of your re-registration attempt!

John

Hi,

I will probably register this one by postcard [I did the first on through the net] - I know it mentions Vehicle Number, but hey, must have missed it out.

I won't really know the outcome of it until next years disk is issued!

Hi,

My CD just says 2003 on the box, nothing about autumn winter. How do I know I have the latest disc.

Hi,

Look on the back on the case? That is where mine is, but obviously case stickers sometimes vary.

Also, if you go through the menus somewhere, it gives you version number. Mine is 2003 02.01 if I recall

Hi,

It appears mine is the 2003 version of the 2002 maps, it is not the latest autumn/winter version. When I looked at the version in the car, it actually said 2002. Anyway I phoned them up and the CD's are out of stock, but they have put it on order and it will follow on when it is back in stock. Looks like you got the last disc Stuart.

Off to Wales tomorrow from South Coast so I will use the "follow me" system to see if there is any traffic. Also interesting to see how many MPG I get on a long run.

Also some b*****d in the car park reversed out of the space next to my wife and left a red streak two feet down the side of the rear door and arch. Fortunately I managed to polish most of the scratch off, but there are some small marks left.

I read in here about the free update so I actually got round to sending off the postcard. Nothing happened so I called up. They couldnt find my reg form so I went through it with the chap on the phone. Today 2 disks turned up! both autumn/winter 03. I supose this might mean there's no check in their database for duplicate VINs or names!

Any offers for the spare?

Only wish I had the car to put it in! Its been with the dealer for the last 3 weeks whilst they try to install a new control system! :-( since the original died whilst they tried to do a software "update"
They "couldnt reboot my car" - what a pain. They've not managed to match the controller / part number.

Hi,

Lets hope this is no check on the system - I am going to use a different name and address on the postcard I got with my update disk. Sounds promising!

I presume they have given you a courtesy car to use whilst they TRY and fix yours?

Stuart

Yes they've given me a Multipla. Its OK but its not the car I bought.
No toys :-(
...not even a cd player

John_k,

Actually I've got used to the multipla now. Its quite nice to drive. Its probably slightly nippier on acceleration than the ulysse (same engine, lighter body I assume). It's quite well laid out inside, although I like the stalks on my ulysse for radio etc. but there's little boot space with the six seats in place.
Oh well..
still waiting for mine back
