Technical Mystery unplugged connection?

Hi All
I spied this unplugged connector above the engine on my 2019 100 multijet 2.2d camper van. It runs okay and as much as it seems it should be reconnected I can’t help thinking it must have been disconnected for a reason? Anyone know what it’s for?

Not offhand, but you will probably find several unconnected cable connectors all around your van if you look hard enough. The looms are generic to cater for various options which are not fitted to every vehicle.

On my van, there are at least two unused connectors in the engine bay, several behind the dashboard and also behind both cab step panels and one in the battery box. Probably more that I haven't found or noticed too.

Many won't be enabled unless the option is fitted and the BCM programmed accordingly.

Thanks for the reply and that makes sense. I thought the wire disappeared into the loom but thought i;d check one more time just in case and was able to trace it back to this sensor?
