Hi Guys. I'm new here and you are my last hope:bang:
I have a 2004 Eleganza and recently all the lights on my dash board come on, simultaneously the speedometer/rev counter and diesel gauge indicators go to "0" and the lights on the indicators dim. As this happens the radio (if it's on) goes full blast. This can happen even before I put the key in the ignition (in other words once I've used to FOB to unlock the doors), while I'm driving and even after I have taken the key out!! I've been to a mechanic, who has run a diagnostics and no errors have come up. Can please someone help!!:worship:

I'd try to re-set/re-boot the BSI - but use the method here:

Remove the battery cover, get in car, close doors and wait THREE FULL minutes. Then without opening a door or turning anything on, detach negative battery lead.

Wait a minute or so then reconnect lead, select dipped beam. The ECU/BSI will re-boot.

Thanks ever so much for your reply Brittleware, You are the first person, so far, to give a concrete response. Even the Fiat dealer had no idea what to do and suggested I change the BSI and ECU!!!! I'll have a go and will let you know. Just a quick question. At what point do I put in the ignition key?

Hope it helps. I wouldn't expect a Fiat dealer to know - the car is really a Peugeot 807!

The ignition key is not necessary as the object of this procedure is to completely kill or let die ALL activity in the cars various ECUs. Wait until the BSI has re-booted - give it a minute or so after re-connecting the negative battery cable. Then use the key as per normal...

Hi Brittleware. No luck. In fact as i unlocked the doors to get in. all the lights on the dash came on. I closed the door, waited until everything was off and followed your instructions to the letter. Nothing. Any more suggestions??

You did wait *inside* the car? Sounds as though there's a problem in the BSI... Try asking a Peugeot dealer about this problem in an 807. Or Citroen as in the C8 - all the same cars but the Ulysse is well outside Fiat dealers comfort zone.

Yep. Followed your instructions to the letter. Sounds like good advice to approach Peugeot/Citroen. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the reply.

Just for your info, now that the weather is warmer, the car seems to be exorcised! Except the rear parking sensors don't work properly. That is I put the car in reverse I get a signal that the reverse sensor is on, then after 2 seconds a second signal indicates that the rear sensors aren't working. Any more ideas???

Get someone to sit in the car with the clutch in and select reverse gear. Touch each of the four reversing sensors and if one is not buzzing it is faulty and needs replacing. It's quite an easy job to do just takes 5 minutes or so.

Great to hear that! But this sounds like an earth problem. When you first got the car, was all working normally? When you put it into reverse there SHOULD be just a "ping" from the sound (RT3) unit. I do think you need to find someone near you who has a LEXIA/PP2000 diagnostic unit. It will have recorded faults which can be seen and sorted...

I had a 2003 ulysse that made 2 bleeps just like described when one of the sensors was faulty and then on my 2004 ulysse just one bleep when one of the sensors was faulty - maybe subtle differences in software in different years?

My 2004 does several things differently on the rt3 screen than my older Ulysse.
