Hey folks,

I've just started up a new feature on my YouTube channel that I thought might interest folks here so here I am spreading the word.

If it's cool with Martyn I'll probably post the video up in here whenever I make a new one which will probably only be once a month or so. I've never really thought about it but I don't actually do that much driving!

As the topic name suggests the feature is called 'Wrong or Right?' and its a fairly simple concept, I show some footage of me driving and you have to decide if what I do is wrong or right (see where I got the name from ;) ).

I do want to point out that this isn't me cutting folk up and swearing at them and looking for you to tell me I was in the right, they are different videos, this is just me driving and asking about something that perhaps isn't too clear.

Anyway, without further ado here it is!

I'm liking this :D

Where you skip the red light at 30 secs is the set of traffic lights where some nob in a volvo sideswiped my vectra a few years back. But yeh, we'll let that one slide >_< I actually thought for a minute you might be going into lane discipline on Holburn Street.

The roundabout in question is a bugger, particularly going the exact opposite way. But I reckon with this one you're right enough in leaving on the second exit.

right.

It's 2 lanes going onto 2 lanes. The fact you're turning right again so soon off the roundabout means you're just taking your position. From a safetys point of view that's good defensive driving because you're avoiding unnecessary lane changes so soon off the roundabout where there;s a chance somebody can nip around the outside of you when you need to move lanes. so you're removing the uncertainty for others.

If the exit had been further off the roundabout, then you'd have been wrong, but as it stands, you're right.

But tut tut for nipping through the lights

I'd say your in the right there!

Interestingly, i did the exact same as you did, right lane, straight on, this morning, and someone cut me up on the left...

Would really need to drive it myself to be honest, not too sure that its a 2 lane road you are on, no markings?

Next time you're up Scoop I'll take you round :)

Yeah it's 2 lanes on and off, not sure why there isn't markings on the exit or the roundabout for that matter though, never really noticed before!

Wouldn't matter if there was - half the time, if they did bother putting markings, or directional arrows, they are actually wrong - e.g. arrow in lane points right, but lane guides u straight on..........

That, or the other Aberdeen classic is 2 lanes one side of junction, into 1 lane other side = bottle neck

As it should be and done it many a time myself. Aberdonians inability to use both lanes frustrates me on a regular basis which is why I avoid town driving and the A90 as much as possible.

In fact best not to get me started on their inability to use a dual carriageway

Something i noticed when i was up at Aberdeen is just how unbelievably terrible the locals are at using 2 lanes as well, Anderson drive for example, everyone loves sitting trundling along at 20mph behind each other with a clear lane alongside them, has nobody told them that using the outside lane is legal?

Wrong wrong wrong!

Everyone else is queuing and by doing that you are just making them queue longer! If everyone was to do it it wouldn't made the queue move faster it'd just make it a different shape :D Not a bad thing I spose since it would be more condensed and take the traffic away from other parts of the road but as it is you were a cheeky monkey and jumped the queue which is a big tsk tsk from me :p

Ah...but with everyone queing in the ns lane no traffic can get off of South Esplanade. If folk used the os lane as they should (wellington road is the third exit.. ) then the que would easily be more manageable.

Technically it is right, but cheeky i think..

They do this on the way out to Ellon, where the Dual turns into single carriageway - what happens is the cars speeding up the o/s lane, then barging their way into the n/s, which slows the n/s traffic down considerably, to a crawl to let them in, whereas if everyone had conformed earlier into one line of traffic, it would have continued to move (like this eve :) ) ....
