Panda My new Panda 100hp

Cheers i love it so far. I used Hammerite smooth red. They did take three coats each, but they look great now they are done, it gives a really nice finish too.

I'm getting the wheels refurbished next week and getting them refinished in a dark anthracite colour hopefully, what do you think?

Thought I'd pop a few more pictures of my Panda 100hp up having spent over two years with her.

Genuine Fiat metal pedals fitted some time ago.

Decided to brighten up the engine bay a bit.

The gear knob was badly scratched so I resprayed it and painted in the numbers.

The gear gaiter was starting to crack so I replaced it with a leather one. Just cut the stitching at the rear, slid it over and then re stitched it. Looks much better now.

It's been very reliable for the most part. I had to get the steering wheel repaired as the leather started coming away. It's also has a new clutch master cylinder but otherwise is going strong. I may have to fork out for some new rear dampers soon though.

Would love to see some more externals of your car. There is a quirky, cute and underestimated beauty about these cars. Yours looks really smart, i bet they're fun to drive

Nice panda. The detail with the red R looks great If I had a blue car i would paint the rims white, but the dark color looks good too. I'm actually thinking about which color shoud get my winter wheels, grey metallic is one option.

Hi Jon, car looks great mate! My 100hp is the same colour and so glad you put the picture up of it on the dark wheels as I have been toying with this idea myself! After seeing them not to sure now as love the way the original silver just pops and makes the wheels look bigger!

Thanks. Ah great stuff, glad I could be of help. Mine are still silver, the image with the dark wheels was done on Photoshop by my friend as I was toying with the idea myself. I decided to stick with silver in the end. It does look good though. Here's another external picture:

Cheers, thought they should have been painted in as standard really. I left mine silver in the end, the image with dark wheels has been photoshopped. Grey metallic would look good, what colour is your car?

Does the cooling water level stay constant on your 100hp panda, also do you have any vapours from the exhaust during driving?

Hello Ken,

It didn't when I bought it, the coolant level was low, I didn't think anything of it really and topped it up. About a week later, the level had dropped to the minimum mark again. It turned out to be the pipe from the radiator to the water pump. Apparently it's quite common for the pipe to leak where it joins the water pump. I replaced the pipe and it's been fine ever since.

I can't really say that I have noticed much in the way of exhaust vapours. You sometimes get a slight oily smell but nothing bad.

Have you been having these problems?

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. The history with me is: engine losing coolant (very weak mixture), I brought coolant mix up to 50/50 and good to minus 35. Replaced spark plugs as a matter of course and noticed the view thru' No.1 to be damp/wet. I found the head bolts around No.1 cylinder not tight (quarter turn approx on each bolt), no loss for four nights (cold check at 10pm each night and ambient temp = 8 to 12), then on fifth night a 6mm loss which prompted me to add 250mls of mix to system (ambient temp = zero). Next Half coming up (word count!!)

The main dealer has pressure tested the system twice and insists it is sound, of course this is when things are cold, could be different when all is warm. That is the first issue and the second is the vapour from the exhaust, dealer says normal, I disagree.
They are treating us okay, courtesy car etc. but no solution yet, although if the water loss is now stopped, it will be down to my nipping down the No.1 head bolts.
