General My New Mk1 Uno Turbo

Hey Clive,
whenI got the sunroof removed from mine all those years ago the panelbeater reckoned it would have been easier to throw in a whole panel rather than just the patch where the sunroof was, trouble being there wasn't many wrecked standard uno's floating around so I made him do the patch instead.
Putting a whole panel in strengthens the car too.

I've lost count of the number of Uno shells I've seen crushed that had good roof panels, so shouldn't be a problem to find today. Interesting how the cost of parts varies as the cars become old. I remember when suspension control arms were over $250 each (1996). Then they went down to $100 or even $70, but I imagine they'll go back up again as they become harder to get.

Just joined, bought me a Marea and this site is the best around for info.

I agree, parts prices changed drastically during my 10 years of Uno ownership, but there was always heaps of second hand parts but yeah, those are getting thin in the system now eh

I've always wondered what we would do when trim was no longer available - and I guess that happened a long time ago.

I think you deserve the credit for inspiring my custom headlining many years back. I remember seeing your Uno Turbo at Taupo, and the sagging, shiny vinyl was replaced by smooth black headlining cloth. After seeing how much neater that was, I covered mine in black speaker-box carpet.

So, thanks for the inspiration

Now thats going back in time, oddly enough I forgot about my black hood lining, cos when I had the Italian flag in there it was way cooler.

Must have been my white Uno IH8FDS eh

...the blue door I bought off you is now the passenger's door on my Uno Turbo. So I don't know where the driver's door went!

wow, hadnt had chance to jump on here in ages as i have just started a new job at Andrew Simms European, amazing the peopel that have all jumped on! haha

well i have given up the chase on a new roof, i am just going to get my panel beater to make up a new roof, he's a top guy so will do it no sweat, he's also going to spray the new bonnet and wings that i have for the car!

Booked her in for all the suspension doing nexty thursday so slowly but surely the car will be getting a full overhaul.

Still need to do the engine work but i think having it dry inside might be a little more desirable seen as tho the engine actually works fine as is for now

Nice to see a bit of a Kiwi side to FF, we should organise something sometime if we are all semi central

Hi Rawill, if they are still available try B&G springs. I ran them in my Uno Turbo and they were fantastic.
