General My New MK1 Tipo

Hey Daz
Nice to see you back with the next Tipo , loving it , really like the colour you dont see that around much , actually i think the only time ive seen one that colour was down the scrap yard about 4 years ago

anyway i have a quick question
how much did you lower it by ?
i was thinking your red one looked lower but that might just be with the help of the kit , are the tyres same size .

sorry i know you answered this 100s of times in your last tipo thread :)

anyway
looks great looking forward to see whats in store for this
Graeme

well the alloys are not the same!! :p these are 17's but these are BBS ones,
Kinda gone right off of them dramatically, gonna do a Euro look this time so gotta loose da wheels...the lowering is not as much as my old sedi and im not liking that either... Never satisfied am i ....(moaning old fart)
this kit was 30/35 i think, where as my old kit was 45mm,
the tyres im using on these rims are a bit silly really, but got the wheels cheap !! the tyres are 215/40-17 front and rear

well what can i say the power is not at all impressive, (n) hardly pulling skin off of rice pudding variety..... think im gonna get a tempra 2.0 or a lancia turbo 2.0 as a doner, gotta be done as the car is mint....yes its minty green too.

Grahame liking your webby site mate keep up the good work you will get there,....(y)

I know you might say that I am biased as the car used to be mine but an engine transplant is not as simple as it sounds. You need also to think of handling and braking issues - both will need uprating, and of course insurance implications.

If I still had the car I would look at air intake/filtration, give it a bloody good service, have the carb checked over and - dare I say it - actually run smaller alloys as at least that way you still get some sense of accelaration.

The alternative is to buy another car of course - there are 2 sedici's and a 2ltr Gt on E/bay at the moment - cheap as chips!!

If you are interested - the bright red car with coded bumpers has been offered for sale many times - is I think very high mileage but when I used to know of the car it was aways very well maintained. The dark red car looks very genuine but does urgently need a belt change. (Both are 5 doors by the way)

The Gt is described as a 16v but I beleive that to be wrong I think it is an 8v- it does however have a full history. If you do really want a Sedici again I would urge you to look now whilst there are still some good ones left - coz there arn't that many. Sorry - end of sermon. CHEERS MIKE

hi mike yes i do agree with you there mate,
would be a shame to ruin a perfectly good car,
so scrapped the idea of messing with this one,
And actually considering getting another sedi, Miss mine
i love the green car to bits and in the condition that its in ,it is worth
storing or making concours... also looking for smaller wheels as i write this, just some 15s, makes sense really dont it, would the acceleration be affected greatly
due to the 17s??

The Sedici on E/Bay is the one I mentioned in my post - looks a potentialy good buy albeit you will have to change the belts asap or it will go bang.

15inch wheels will be great and YES you will notice an improvement in accelaration but more importantly the car will handle better. If you check out the Tipo 16v forum on Delphi Forums or get there via www.tipo16v.co.uk you will see someone selling some Sedici Wheels. Another alternative that could look quite nice would be Punto Sporting mk2 wheels - there are usually some on E/Bay.

Making my old car concours.........now there is an idea!! In the Fiat Motor Club ( where I am co-registrar for the Sedicivalvole - how sad is that !!) there is quite a bit of interest in the Tipo mainly because there are so few good condition and unmolested ones around of any of the models. If you want to post your address to my e/mail - waremike&talk21.com I will send you some surpless club mags so you can see what I mean.

I know this is a bit of a plug for the FMC but by attending various events throughout the year with the club I save my £25 membership 2 or 3 times over!!

Glad to hear you like the car so much anyway - My kids who are now grown up still refer to "George the Tipo" - dont ask me why something to do with the kids program "Rainbow"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIKE

Missed out on J*** ETS, Sold for 320.... got beat by about 30 secs...
oh well,
ive found a set of lancia thema alloys on flea bay, they look ok,
Dont know what they would look like on the car though??
Would prefer to keep all the bits as original as i can on "George",
You started something now mike,
that would be cool if you could send me some info, i'll p.m
you my address,
would be nice to be able to do a winter overhaul and get George sparklingly
spot on.... needs a new drivers seat as the original has collapsed,
where do i goin the FMC?? i used to be a member of the LMC a while back,
Used to go on treasure hunts and drink lashings of home made lemonade in my old Beta....Mmmmm

FMC. Co-registrar? Would you be the guy I spoke with at Brooklands about changing injectors and re-chipping? Black J-reg Sedici? Or did I speak with the other guy?

Hi Hellcat..NO I am afraid that was not me. It was probably my co-regisrtrar Robin - He has a beard and his car reg ends UGM (one of the Sedici dealer demonstrators - the all carried UGM).

My car is also a black 5 door - reg MDO

Dazzo - FMC info can be found at www.fiatmotorclubgb.co.uk - or use google. The website will tell you all you want to know about the club, past and future events etc.

Membership is £25 p/a for you +one guest. For this you get all soughts of discounts, possible insurance savings, a glossy mag once a month, here in the south east I also get a monthly e/mail newsletter +event pics - which I guesss any club member can request BUT most importantly you get accesss to all soughts of events either free or for very little money. For instance by the end of this Saturday I will have been on one road run,one club national rally, exibited at 4 large car shows and been to one track day - and I certainly haven't been to all the events on offer. So I have seen my subs returned many times over. Its not everyone's cup of tea as it caters for ALL Fiats, old and new + subsiduaries.(there are quite a number of Alfas/Lancias and at least one Ferrari).

Re your wheels - the Lancia ones if Dedra should look ok but I still think Punto Mk2 would be cool. CHEERS
