my gearbox is leaking help

hi im all to new to this but i need help. if there is any one who could help me . i went out in my 04 punto tonight and it started to make a really funny sound so i took it to a friend and they said it looks like my gearbox seal has gone does it cost much to have this done i would be very greatful for any help.
