I just got my first Fiat Uno Turbo, Black, 60k on the clock, Koni all round, bleed valve, K&N panel air filter, absolutly no rust (i can't believe it either), running 1.5 bar boost and wheels powder coated mint condition and the body work mint condition. Not cheap but really nice, i like it very much, got 140mph and it was still pulling. Changed the exhaust today and then had it rolling roaded, got 139bhp but the boost was peeking at 25psi, which he said was too much, so when we turned it down to 21 peek and holding at 15psi it went to 144bhp. Any reccomendations for more power, reliabilty and what should the peek of boost and holding psi should be? Thank Shamir.

Hmmm was it the expensive one on ebay? 1.5 bar boost is too much if the head gasket is standard, the engine won't last long unless it's been modified for that boost. 1 bar is safe.

Yeah thats the one but i managed to get it for £2250, which i was pretty pleased with, you still think too much? Yeah the boost has to come down i'll tell the dyno man who gave me the advice today to take it down. If it holds at 14psi what peek will it be? any ideas to make any faster?

what a bargain!
its gorgeous!

i could of had that instead of my mini 1.3i!!
but couldnt afford insurance or upkeep.

its pointless waxoiling the underneath of a mk2 uno, they are galvanised and wont rust anyway!

Your Uno is sexy and worth the money in my opinion. A stronger actuator set to hold 1 bar would be best. Once you think about going past this then you need to upgrade other bits like: gaskets, ecu etc

Where can i get the ecu done, no one wants to touch it around here (Basildon). Would i not need to change the injectors to make sure it don't run too lean? Thanks for your replies so far guys.

To be honest i think i will do a bit more work to it and keep the milage low then sell it again to a proper Uno turbo fan, would any of you guys be interested?

you won't really realise any more money than that on a mk2, although you DID NOT pay over the odds, its certianly worth the money if it runs good, and has no rust atall.

although first I would be keen to get it on the ramps, pull the carpets out and waxoil the absolute balls out of it. then some more

as for performance, theres plenty of info going around, although to get more than 140 some proper head work is required, and then you'll have to sort the bottom end too, as I don't think they are as strong as th mk1 1.3turbo unit (its just a std 1.4 tipo block AFAIK)>

I would ditch the bleed valve if I was you and get an electronic boost controller..

Also when it was RR'd did they check the air fuel mixture?
That'd be the first thing i'd check on any mod'd UT

Edit: Just checked link that's gorgeous :O

The car looks very clean but almost any car looks very clean in small pictures. I wouldn't pay £2250 for a Mk2 UT. I personally think £2k is top value for low mileage, limited owner, full service history Mk1 cars, and less so for Mk2 but that's just my opinion. If you want a really clean Uno and it's as good as it's made out to be and can justify paying top dollar then why not. I asked the seller a few questions and judging by the response he hadn't owned it long either, he couldn't say what engine work had been done to sustain 1.5bar boost so immediately got me thinking barge pole as standard they're only really good for a small increase to 1bar.

As for immediately coming on here and trying to flog the car, suggest you put it up in classifieds but wouldn' hold out much hope of getting back what you paid here.

No no no, don't wanna sell it just wondered what the demand was, i really wanna turn the boost down to 1 bar as people have reccomended and hope the air fuel then runs sweeter. Can you guys reccomend where i can get a upgraded head gasket from? Don't wanna give it too much power, i'll rather go for reliabilty first, seeing as the body & interior is mint!! Thanks

I had one on my old standard MK2 Uno Turbo, got it from EVO ENGINEERING (Now cesed trading due to owners death as far as im aware)

Dont know where you could get one now?
Anyone know?

They came in two thicknesses: 1.7mm and 1.9mm
It did noticably drop the compression ratio abit, i got a 1.9mm gasket.
Used to "bog" down easier when pulling away but does allow more boost to be run be that it lowers to compression ratio, but dont bank on it being the solution to more TRQ/PWR
