Hi folks!
I'm about to buy a 2004 Ducato camper van, a Bürstner A625 2.8 107KW. Before I can get it I need to buy a set of winter tires for it. When searching around I can't figure out if it's a Maxi or not - having 118mm or 130mm bolt pattern and the owner struggles with getting a good measurement. I THINK it's has 118mm, but the pictures the owner sends me could be showing 130mm too. When looking up the plate number I find that maximum axle loads are 1850kg and 2300kg. (VIN ZFA24400007506503)

Can any of you guys help me here?

Edit: It has 215/75 16 tires.

Use the drop down menu click on eper, click through to fiat commercial spares, enter your vin number-you may find info you are after.

Maxi. My Ducato 33 has a MAM of 3300kg with maximum axle loadings of 1750 kg, and 1850 kg.
Also the quoted engine output of 107 kW is that for the 8140.43N engine, which I believe was fitted as standard on the x244 Maxi. This engine differs from the more common 8140.43S engines, in having variable geometry turbo vanes.

Eper shows the vin number having 8140.43s engine

So maybe not 107kw

Thanx for helping guys!

jackwho, I didn't know about eper, I'll look into that. The registration says it has 107KW

Communicator, yes in a couple of places I've looked up the car I find only the Maxi having that engine, but it looks like the front axle on the Maxi is supposed to take more load than 1850, so I it's hard to tell what's right.

The car is classed down for legal reasons to max 3500kg but I'm going to class it up again and belive max total weight will be 4000kg.

For now the best indicator I can find is the diameter of the lug bolts, if it has 16mm bolts it's a Maxi and non-Maxi has 14mm bolts, does that look right to you guys?

Pcd is usually stamped on the rims , you realise of course that the rear springs will have to be changed to thicker ones and /or additional leaves , also check your brake diameter as the heavier models have larger drums and discs , the "heavy " models have additional rear crossmembers and are slightly thicker [ all based on my 2014 L4 HEAVY ] to carry additional weight .

What are the legalities of doing this in your country as in the UK and most of the EU changing vehicle specs is a no no and land you in a world of grief if you change the original vehicle from its type approved build ..!!

The car have originally 4000kg max total weight. In Norway on a regular drivers license (Class B) you can only drive upto 3500kg. We can class down a car without changing anything on it, it just is not allowed to be heavier than 3500kg. This renders this car allmost useless, it can legally carry only just over 300kg in addition to the driver, but I have a drivers license without weight limit (Class C) so the plan is to class it back up to 4000kg, making it an affordable and usable camper :)

Using your vin in Eper(Which should then only show parts suitable for your vehicle) gives part number for wheel bolts as
1345714080
Google part number
Looks like 16mm thread

Ours is a 18 Maxi chassis 3.85t max total weight. Yours could be the 18 Maxi with Alko chassis 4.5t.

Brochures for older models with details can be found here. Just scroll down past current models and click on Show More.

With the weights you say, I'd say 100% it is a Maxi. My 3 axle vehicle has a front axle load of 2000Kg, and 2x rear of 1500Kg. I understand anything over 3500 or 3850 is Maxi?

Thanx guys! I was allmost sure it wasen't a Maxi but now it seems more and more likely it is. I've asked the owner to take out a lug bolt and measure it, if it's 16mm I guess we'll know pretty sure :)

You said it has 16" tyres and wheels fitted so at that age it must be a Maxi. [16" 5x118 wheels for the light chassis were not introduced until 2014 before that 15" was the only option ] I would have thought it was easy to discern visually the difference between 5x118 and 5x130

Just about to post the same.......Std 15" wheel........... Maxi 16" wheels.
And to add may be Std with aftermarket rims etc, also the PCD of the fixings will be different.

A photo of a Burstner A625 of that vintage. looks like 5x130 wheels to me

If this helps it's a segment of the ITV card for my X244 power model which is quoted as 107KW.

Yours look like it's been classed down to 3500kg like the one I'm looking at. When I called and asked how much mine originally was (and are going to be) they told me it would have a max weight of 4000kg, axles at 1850 and 2300.

I have tried to ask the local dealer and even they can't say if it's a Maxi or not. The best guess for now is jackwhoo who thinks it looks like it has 16mm bolts and then being a Maxi.

If this continues in this slow pace (waiting for the shop to chance a window before I pick it up) I can probably drive it home on summer tires and find out for sure.
