The coolant temperature sensor is located near the thermostat body. If it fails, the fallback procedure is for the ECU to assume a coolant temperature of the air temperature for the first three minutes if the air temperature is less than 20 deg C. If the air temp is greater than 20 deg C, and always after 3 minutes, the coolant temp is assumed to be 80 deg C. The sensor for the water temperature gauge on the dash is separate. I assume that still works ok?
I don't know how a universal lambda probe would compare to a Fiat lambda probe. For things like that, you need to phone Alternative Autos (not an official website). They will be the cheapest for things like that.

yes even after all you said i got a universal one and its fine the only down side is that its a bit fiddley to fit ie crimp the wires rather than just take the old one out and put a new one in. since doing the lambda sensor the car is now starting to settle the oil temp is rising higher than normal and the engine temp is rising higher than 60. oh and its doing more than 10 to the gallon lol. all thats left now is the coolant sensor. thanks for all your answers:slayer:
oh yea cat dont smell so bad no either!

Hi, a newbee here, my coupe is having the same affliction: the injector light is coming on causing a reduction in power. Am thinking of unplugging the air flow meter to see if it drives ok without the drag. Anyone else tried this as process of elimination? The fan comes on at times when the engine starts as well, so think both relate to same problem. Any thoughts anyone? Can't affort big diagnostic fee post-Christmas!
